I wish people didn’t use the term weeb. It was made up by Americans when the term otaku already existed, thinking they were clever and came up with the first word to describe anime watchers lol

My Adventures with Superman is a great modern adaptation of superman.

I'm with Yahtzee, Superman is fundamentally a "I'm a god like utterly infallible character" which isn't interesting if they are unstoppable, impervious and utterly good and right in every single way. A lack of flaws, a lack of imperfections, a lack of adversity means a lack of interest. And Yahtz is right, the only way in media that anyone can do Superman with any kind of interesting angle always seems to be, give him a bit of darkness. Or alternatively, parody him with a full on evil alternative version (Omniman, Homelander, Brightburn, Superman - Red Son and Injustice versions, the Snyderverse version etc). Despite all that, in many ways, the most interesting take on Superman would be to lean into the cornball "gee golly gawsh" wholesome, wide-eyed, innocent, naïve patriotic hero thing, that informed the MCU version of Captain America. Showing how someone who is inherently good and right and just, deals with a cynical world by being fundamentally good. Staying true to their values and morals even when the world is a far more cynical place. But DC doesn't seem to want that so, they continue to push the darkness angle, which feeds back into the notion that Superman is dull without that edge.

I don't think "society" is too cynical for Superman, I think Yatz is
