Patreon Survey Responses
Added 2021-05-22 14:08:24 +0000 UTCHey ya'll! I went over the recent survey and I wanted to give you my thoughts on some of the replies that stood out:
- 1. “What sort of rewards are you thinking these tiers are going to see?”
- As far as rewards would go (and if I decide to make tiered rewards), there would be a few. These are by no means official and up to change:
- $2.00 Basic: Access to high res pictures and gifs and animation previews. Basically, standard Patreon access.
- $3.00 Plus: All of the above + Full Discord server access with lots of WIPs, more animation previews in the Patreon channel. Vote to decide future animated content. What the current pledge gets you.
- $5.00 Pro: All of the above + 10% discount on : one multislot YCHs or one commission, per month
- $20.00 Super: All of the above + One (1) monochrome doodle sketch per month. Limited slots
- As far as rewards would go (and if I decide to make tiered rewards), there would be a few. These are by no means official and up to change:
- 2. “When will you be releasing exact rewards?”
- The tiers will only go into effect if there is positive feedback. Otherwise, I will keep the tiers as is!
- 3. “Do you have any plans on switching to SubscribeStar? Maybe when you switch up your tiers you could also roll them out there?”
- At the moment, I do not plan on doing so. I hear mixed reviews about that site (as well as Patreon). For the time being, I will stick to Patreon until issues arise!
- 4. “Why this sudden change?” “Absolutely hate tier systems, seems like a way to try to get more cash.”
- Ultimately, I am trying to make Patreon a major source (not the only source) of income. I am using patreon as a tip jar service, which has been nice. If people are not happy with tiered rewards, I will keep the current tier as is. The only thing I would bring up is that I am only able to update Patreon content so often as I have dedicated only one day of the week (Wednesday) to working on animations. I do have other responsibilities that need attention (backlog work,on-stream commissions, YCHs, etc), which means I need to budget my time per week. As it stands, I can only squeeze in one day worth of work of Patreon content per week. This is one of the reasons why I am considering different tiers as to help fund more time dedicated to Patreon content, as well as provide specific rewards. Hitting certain subscriber goals will help push more time for Patreon backed animations because I won’t have to rely on commissions as much.
- 5. “Currently, the focus of your patreon is on your animations. They are of top tier quality, but it does feel like looking at the same imagery over and over with slight improvements. The relatively low frequency and satisfaction ratings stem pretty much from the feeling of having looked at the same blueberry animation at various states and barely anything else for about a month. I would like to see more sketches and images being posted, especially because I usually cannot be around during your streams, which means your patreon feed is pretty much the only content stream of your work that reaches me.”
- If patrons are okay with non animated posts of high res commissions(and if the commissioners are okay with their commissions being behind a paywall), I will post those to break up the monotony of seeing the same thing. The reason why you see the same animation progress is that I’ve only dedicated 1 day of the week to work on animations. Once I free up more time, I will do my best to figure out a game plan to do more and post more varied content!
- 6. “How do you manage to stream so fucking much?”
- It’s my full time job! That and I love drawing for an audience!
As for the "How satisfied" responses, I will do what I can to make those better. There's always room for improvement and I cant do it without your feedback.
