The Rules of a Good Plot Twist | Semi-Ramblomatic

Great video as always. I think that some of this can be summed up by saying that the twist can't be obvious, and that it has to be "earned." But what the heck "earning" the twist means is actually spelled out really effectively by Yahtz.

Chris McElligott Park

Rule #4 reminds me of math class. When they were coming up with the rules for geometry, they couldn't justify rule #4 and just tacked it on there.

Robot given fake memories to help kill? "Hardcore Henry" did it too.

Didn't see it coming and didn't come out of nowhere. This is why some Sherlock Holmes stories are garbage. Was I supposed to know that the poison is popular with the circus that is in town this week?

I'm saying this as someone who hated both Layers of Fear games, Medium definitely impressed me(and I don't agree with those who said the game was "pro-suicide" or whatever).

Cautious optimism is warranted. The Medium and Layers of Fear weren't without their good points, but they weren't flawless either, and SH2 has a massive history. Pressure like that and the modern development landscape lays the groundwork for a lot of potential oopsies.

I thought the twist of 12 Minutes was fucking badass personally, any game that has the guts to go there earns my respect for sure.

I'm honestly excited for the remake of Silent Hill 2

Inversion has one of my favorite twists, not the obvious one about the character the one person is trying to find(though that one is admittedly good as well) I mean the one about the Earth itself, genuinely did not see that coming.
