An Update on the Second Wind LIVE Channel
Added 2024-01-15 19:14:12 +0000 UTCStarting tomorrow, and after taking feedback from Premium Discord, YouTube Community Tab and Patreon, we are going to be moving our livestreams back to the main channel and discontinuing the use of the Second Wind LIVE channel for the time-being.
We will continue using Twitch as well. We have had some logistical issues running the LIVE channel, including being able to promote to our main audience, having to manually track our funding goals because it's split between two channels, and in general, there's been audience confusion of where we're streaming and where we're not.
So, we're just going to simplify things back to one channel, but DON'T WORRY, we are not going to flood your sub / home feed with streams.
After streams (this doesn't include podcasts) air on Second Wind, they will be unlisted and categorized by their respective playlists. To watch the VOD of the streams, you will need to go their respective playlist after it's done airing.
We want to keep your sub / home feeds uncluttered and focused on our scripted content, so this is our best way of doing that.
We're aware some will be displeased with this change, but there's no solution that will please everyone and for the good of the business, we believe this is the right call to make to both simplify things and make sure we're growing our live audience.
If you have a Membership on the LIVE channel, consider moving to the Main channel if you don't have a membership there yet, and feel free to cancel your Membership on the LIVE channel as we make this change.
Thank you!

Makes sense.

2024-01-17 17:54:02 +0000 UTCI’m 100% behind this idea. Best of both worlds as long as there’s no undue burden on Second Wind. Those who want the live vods in their feed will be able to get them this way.

2024-01-17 17:15:42 +0000 UTCThis sounds like a good idea.

2024-01-17 09:56:40 +0000 UTCAs someone who watches the streams after they have been aired, this change kind of sucks. I preferred seeing all listed streams and see in one list what I have watched and what not. Having to search through playlists for the content I would like to watch is not ideal...

2024-01-16 12:21:37 +0000 UTCAfter reading the other comments, I think I agree with this the most. That would be actually perfect. In this case I would also keep my membership on the second channel ;)

2024-01-16 09:47:47 +0000 UTCFor timezone reasons (EU) I watch most of the content as VOD. That's fine for me, but I would prefer if I don't have to search through the playlists to find the videos that aired last night (night for me). If you are going to unlist the VODs it would be great, if you could wait a day or two to make them more easily accessible.

2024-01-16 09:46:14 +0000 UTCJust do all that and then also upload videos to the LIVE channel - everyone wins and you now have backup parity.

2024-01-15 20:43:33 +0000 UTCthis sounds good, honestly i think the most important thing is just sticking to this decision now because changing where streams and stuff go multiple times will get confusing

2024-01-15 20:43:10 +0000 UTCSeems like the best decision available with how yt and patreon work. Thanks for the update.

2024-01-15 20:42:53 +0000 UTCThat seems like a good compromise.

2024-01-15 20:37:06 +0000 UTCHonestly that's fine by me, it made no distinction on my feed which channel had the livestream. Whatever works better for you guys

2024-01-15 20:23:13 +0000 UTCWe are currently doing that every week on Discord if that helps! It's in the #content-schedule channel

2024-01-15 20:08:22 +0000 UTCVODS will show up in a playlist on the main YouTube channel and also via Twitch here: https://twitch.tv/secondwindgroup/videos?filter=highlights&sort=time In addition, if you are in our Discord, you can check the weekly links in the #content-schedule channel

2024-01-15 20:06:44 +0000 UTCI'll probably forget to go watch the lives afterwards. Would making a community post linking that week's lives be useful for anyone? It would remind me to go watch and I'd be able find it later

2024-01-15 20:01:54 +0000 UTCI worry that I'd miss livestream if they go unlisted as I tend to watch them as VOD. Maybe change the live channel into a livestream VOD channel where live streams are uploaded afterwards, that way people can follow that channel if they want them in their sub feeds, but people can ignore it and just follow the main one if they don't want them in the feed after they go unlisted? I appreciate that is a lot more work though to reupload.

2024-01-15 19:58:41 +0000 UTCTotally get how having two channels to manage can be tiresome so no worries. Was nice to be able to go to a single channel for VODs but now I'll just have to click through a couple menus to get to them, think I'll live lol.

2024-01-15 19:44:04 +0000 UTCWe'll see how things shape-up. We wanna be careful not to hurt our edited shows as we get going, so maybe overtime we'll adjust how much we unlist etc.

2024-01-15 19:41:19 +0000 UTCI get wanting to simplify, and understand your decision. Hope it works out for you from a channel success perspective. For me though, this does mean I'm turning off the bell to get no longer get notifications on the main channel. I'll be much more likely to tune out the channel due to the added noise, hopefully it doesn't become to much of an issue. Best of luck.

2024-01-15 19:33:05 +0000 UTCThis is a great idea and a really sensible middle-ground - I like the highlights videos very much but rarely watch a full stream. Hope it all goes well - I like the idea a lot. (And thanks for the transparency, as always.)

2024-01-15 19:32:48 +0000 UTCI will, of course, support any decision you make to improve the process. However, I think unlisting the live videos is a mistake. It has already made it more difficult for me to find live streams like yesterday's Persona stream or the Starstruck Vagabond playtest JM8 was supposed to do on Friday (did it even happen? It's hard to know when these things get delisted). I think you are slightly overestimating the concerns of "cluttering". I just think it hurts the visibility of the content, and ultimately makes it harder for your viewers to find your content. But, I'll support you all the same and hope that maybe I'm wrong. Cheers!

2024-01-15 19:27:40 +0000 UTCThis is the right decision, but please consider not making the streams unlisted. A reverse chronological feed of all the content is the most practical, playlists are a hassle. Just do it the way you did back on the old site, that worked great.
