Revisiting Hades in 2024 | Cold Take

Wonderful, loved it, now do Vagrant Story, and have it go viral so that there can be a remaster for PS5, please and thank you very much!

Telemachus

I’m normally not much of a one for reviewers other than my fellow brit but this was actually quite palatable; I’d be quite happy to have you review some stuff for a different take or flavour while you buffer up your next essay or whatever. Probably call them something else though, because I didn’t realise this was a review until about halfway. Frosty Reception maybe?

Tim Wilson

Hi, I enjoyed the content, please more of it but maybe talk a little slower (There was some great writing in there, but the pace made it difficult to keep up, don't try to imitate Yatzee) and rename the format to distinguish it better from your usual stuff? I don't know, like Cold View or something.

Philippe Woelbitsch

Awesome episode! I've been Enjoying every cold take so far and personally i would love to see a one of the longer 30-40 min types every 6-8 weeks if possible however as long as the content is original and honest I'm all for the ride.

Matthew Barker

Do more for sure, but with a different name. Cold takes for think pieces, ‘hot takes’ for reviews.?

Pete3.141

I'd like to hear Frost review more! My only complaint is that I'd probably prefer it if there was a clearer marker if any given video is an investigative journalism Cold Take or a game review Cold Take. Maybe like a new subtitle.

Sahgren

Love Frost's style but it's hard to say I want more reviews when I disagree with this one so hard. Feels like a classic game reviewer problem to say you don't think you can get broken builds in Hades, or that every build plays the same. Play the game more, see what all sorts of different builds have to offer before coming up with your opinions!

Jellyfission

this was a great reveiw I look forward to more.

Ross Kirkland

I love this way of reviewing a game, taking time to talk about what you're looking for as a reviewer and how a game measures up there. It's thoughtful and told in a rich voice. I'd love to see more Frost Reviews, whatever they may be called.

Tiana Hanson

Liked it. Do More.

LiesOfB

Agree with Egor, use the reviews as a buffer when you need the time to finish cooking, give it a different name so people know what to expect, (would also allow you to gauge interest for the content, so you can use it as a side dish, seasoning or garnish) and if the coffers need some extra, talk with the publishers so when something interesting is going to happen, or a steam sale comes up, you can synergize, get an older game some sunlight, have a deal on so people can get it on the cheap, and get some love for a missed classic.

Sleepninja

Honestly, I don't mind you taking an extra week or whatever amount of time to really flesh out the think pieces. As long as you explain why you have the opinions you have and not just state the opinions, I'm more than happy for more reviews and retrospectives.

Egor A. Palchyk

I personally think it would be hilarious to have Frost review the games that other contributors love that he hasn't played, didn't like the first time, there's a remaster, etc. Titles like Silent Hill 2, Half Life, Halo, and whatever KC, Marty, Jesse, Jess, Will and Amy like

lookitsaneric

That was absolutely pitch perfect good sir, may I have another sir.

Martin Tepper

I could probably listen to you read your grocery list for 10 minutes and enjoy it lol.

Earl Elmore

More frost voice right in my ear hole please.

Sacha Zachariades

Frost I like your Cold Take Reviews for the following reasons: 1.) It provides an avenue to generate Cold Take content without having to come up with a new classic Cold Take opinion every fortnight. This way, the editorial Cold Takes won't become "forced" because you aren't required to force them out every other week. 2.) It would be a solid angle to review games that have been out for a bit because reviewers of new games often cite how they had to speed through games in order to prepare a timely review. A cold take review could come from a place of savoring, like taking 4 hours to eat a 10lbs burrito. 3.) You are good at writing reviews. Don't deprive us of them.

Branden Plesh

Also, yes, more reviews from you would definitely be appreciated. I enjoyed your look at Hades, which was a different perspective from the usual coverage.

Iurii Shikunov

For me, the central-ish balance of Hades actually helps the game stand out more. When the game is hard, and you know it's balanced, there is no one to blame for your losses but yourself and your decisions. Which makes it much more pleasant to actually grind and eventually succeed. Compare this to Notia, which is the example of a complete opposite approach to balance, where you're trying to hit THE jackpot of a build, while everything mediocre would crumble against the brutal scaling of enemies really quickly.

Iurii Shikunov

I want to hear more reviews from your whore mouth, sir. Do what you want. I'm here for it.

Ultraczar

My personal preference would be like 80% Reviews, 20% Cold Takes. The market of good reviews is far from saturated. I would watch Frost review pretty much any game, but tbh I tend to skip Cold Take essays if the topic isn't particularly interesting to me.

Adam Steele

Thanks for revisiting one of my favorite games ever! Might I suggest Disco Elysium for a future Cold Take!

Magnipoptude

I completely agree with your review Frost. I think it's a great idea for you to start doing reviews again, Yahtzee rips into games and publishers for comic effect and JM8 dissects the bones and exposes the hidden workings of development, it's nice to hear your more 'everyman' sort of take on stuff.
