This was my first introduction to Frost. I gotta say, I'm a fan! I also plan to rewatch at least parts of this with my teen and pre-teen kids. This effectively is a primer on the tactics used to draw money out of people in the gaming industry. I've found that, so far at least, my kids do pretty well avoiding scams and various other tricks that others use to try to separate a person from their $$ in part because we have educated them about the various tactics used in, for instance, commercials essentially their whole lives. This Cold Take will help us with that in the video game realm. Trans-parent-cy (🙃) about why we have the boundaries we have, education, and the similar willingness we have to just get rid of non-necessities if the kids are going to be jerks about our boundaries (I, too, would just pitch/sell their devices if they abused them) seem to be working so far to help our kids not fall into some of these traps. Some sort of warnings/rating system would help serve as guide posts for us, though. LOL--we need the equivalent of mental nutrition information labels. But I do agree that the parents here need to take some responsibility for enabling the kid.

This has nothing to do with this video’s content—which I enjoyed immensely—but I noticed that Frost’s wonderful speaking voice has a lot in common with that of the Golden Age performer Oscar Levant, whom I saw today for the first time in 1951’s “An American in Paris.” You’re in good company, Frost.

I really enjoyed this, I’m passingly aware of this but knowing the exacts of the case were very nice, and I found it a reasoned opinion. In the nicest possible way, I like your longer, more detailed dives because it helps separate your content from Yahtzee’s, I found old cold takes were similar to what is now semi-ramblomatic but I think this could be an excellent niche for you (though obviously 40+ minutes a week, every week is far too unreasonable!) I’m also a lawyer, though not in this space, so I can say that when it comes to pleadings, more is more. If you haven’t pleaded something, you can’t win on it, and the other side has to defend it, which takes time, resources and energy away from your other arguments, and sometimes you’ll get lucky; you only need to win on one ground. There’s also little downside to losing on a ground (in the UK at least). Just for a little background on the off-chance you happen to see this haha!

I enjoyed it, was informative, humorous and I for one am happy to trust Frost to use longer formats when it is warranted by the topic… I am also confident that keeping the take as brief and concise as possible will still be the default. Keep up the good work 💪🥃

I can hear the corporate lawyers laughing from here.

ArmchairGravy

I want Frost to talk directly in my ear all day long, such a great voice ^^

Emmanuel

Wonderful. Please do more :3

I hope the long format will be used sparingly. Yes, I enjoyed this video a lot, but the reason I originally got "hooked on" Cold Take and Zero Punctuation is because they present interesting content in a condensed, concentrated form. I can consume that content when I need a break from work, and every second of it packs a punch.

CodeMage

Lot to unpack in this one. I enjoyed it.

BillyQuizBoi

Good recap and analysis.

Indeed. I certainly don't expect it to be normal, but I definitely appreciate the occasional long form content to enjoy while preparing and eating a meal.

Goof Nik

Big fan of longer videos, can't get enough of Frost :)

I also think that longer formats are good, especially when the longer format is necessitated by a topic that requires a longer format.

GreenForge

I appreciate something like this with a longer format. I don't know if it should be a constant thing but every once in awhile, having this extended explainer with room to go off on a few other things is great

Jaridian

Longer formats work really well, at least for subject like this that require longer formats.

I'm not your Guy, Buddy

I love this longer format.
