Yahtzee Tries... Bluey: The Videogame, Laika: Aged Through Blood, Worldless and Fortune's Run

Surprise!

We got the edited version of Yahtzee's Tries done a little bit early today so we went ahead and released it since Cold Take is releasing Monday now instead as it's a super meaty episode.

Enjoy!

I'm a full grown adult and I want to watch Bluey because of how wholesome it is. And how much it heals my childhood trauma. XD

Couldn't quite explain why but when I first saw 'Worldless' I immediately thought of 'Vectorman' for the Sega Megadrive. Almost feels like it has a similar set of core mechanics and design with the exception of Vectorman being about grime and pollution (and having decent combat mechanics for the time) whereas Worldless feels like it's Vectorman if it had been doused with antiseptic and been given the clinical treatment.

The Bluey game reminds me in style of the Steven Universe games but those at least had interested paper mario esque battle mechanics and somewhat faithfully the humour and dialouge of the show. Shame, Bluey's a great series, would have been great to have the game be enjoyable by adults as well.

I'm watching it now, lol

It’s a shame that the Bluey videogame didn’t quite capture any of the actual charm or wit of the original show. But maybe I held in too high regard considering how absolutely genius the writing is for the TV show, I’d hoped that this appreciation for children’s animation would transfer to an appreciation for children’s videogames. But alas, it’s just kinda hollow. They probably felt they didn’t need to try too hard with the game, which is such a missed opportunity as it still feels like so many companies miss the very clear indicator that videogames is a new form of art. It could explore interesting forms of storytelling that puts the kids into these worlds and they learn the lesson first hand. But with how popular the TV Show is, maybe they’ll get another opportunity.
