A couple neat things, not sure if you know… 1) closer to the story it’s based on and the alternate ending is - you know how the “zombie” male was angry and pursuing the female Smith took and later set up the same trap for him? - it was because they were still mentally functioning but changed humans… and to them the character Smith played was the villain. He was a guy mass kidnapping and murdering them. The alternate ending to the film is he realizes it, opens the glass door and gives the woman back to the “zombie male” who came for her, the male looks at all the photos of the people Smoth's character murdered, and Smith realizes what he’s been doing. That’s where the title comes from - not that he’s Legend to “regular” humans for finding a cure, but that he’s Legend to the “infected” as a monstrous kidnapper and murderer performing deadly and torturous experiments on them. And 2) the creators of the film didn’t want the standardly used animal sounds for the Infected so they hired the singer/vocalist Mike Patton (my personal favorite) to be them so they’d have a human voice tone to them instead.
