The Merman AU (Happy MerMay!)

So, just like the old stripper AU, the merman AU has spun a little out of control LOL. I spent too much time on this... but it's okay, because I genuinely had fun coming up with scenarios and different ideas for the characters.

In this AU I imagine that there are several different species of mermaid that live somewhat peacefully with humans, and can communicate with them. Some are more elusive, some are more friendly... and some are pretty feral.

Fletch and Judas in the top left (and Kinley bottom left) would be from a more friendly, tropical region. Fletch and Judas aren't inspired by any particular animal-- just colors I thought were fitting for them. And Kinley was roughly inspired by Ariel lol. Because how could I not do red hair and green tail? It's perfect for him. I personally think he's prettier than Ariel though... and Jaxsen agrees, though their romance is probably forbidden. Shark merman and fishy merman don't belong together-- it's too risky by nature-- but that's what makes the sex so good and we can't expect anything less from Kinley. LOL. (Remember Jaxsen... fish are friends, NOT food!)

Bottom right, I drew Arco because it was popular in the poll, and of course he's the OG merman... I used to draw him like this from time to time! Everything is the same except in this doodle set I wanted to make him REALLY BIG-- like a real orca! Instead of drawing Brynn as another merman, I decided to draw him as a human diver who Arco likes to take for rides.

Moving on to the bulk of this doodle set... which, of course, is Beau and Sage LOL. They always steal the show don't they? I was inspired to draw a more feral merman (Beau with leopard seal characteristics!) and Sage ended up being human because that just fit the scenario best. He's a fisherman working up around Antarctica, when he meets Beau, clipped by one of his boss's (Rhett's) boats. He saves Beau's life, and slowly begins to win him over. They're relationship grows in secret. Eventually Sage even takes his son to meet Beau (Beau doesn't quite understand why Sage hasn't had HIS offspring yet, but he likes Dirt nontheless). And.... who knows what kind of mermaid tragedy happens after that. Maybe Beau trades his teeth in for a pair of legs. Or maybe Rhett catches them fucking in an igloo and harpoons them both, then raised Dirt like as his own. LOL.
