Kinley isn't magically healed and over Fletch... and still has a long road of healing to go, but this is the beginning of it. And I promise, it's never gonna be heavier for him in this comic than it has in this scene. You've got nowhere to go but up but here, Kin.
The next update will probably be a bit shorter. I have a couple loose ends to tie up with this scene, but it's not going to take dialogue, and other than that I'm ready to move forward too!

Tbh? I think this is the best episode yet! Its just so… good and healthy and real. “You need to do better for yourself too” and “you need therapy” in a genuine way just🥹 i honestly love friends supporting taking care of mental health and im so happy kinley is finally at a place of accepting it and wanting to get better🙏🏻 and the “hit by a car” joke was the perfect ending just👏🏼👏🏼 well done, great stuff 🛐

2024-11-01 17:01:34 +0000 UTCYou know, when I was originally scripting the dialogue for this update, I considered adding something in about Kinley's parents trying to reach him, but it was just a little too out of place in the moment and I decided to leave it be. He doesn't have a great relationship with either mom or dad, so them not being concerned about reaching him is probably normal anyway. They're probably the "no news is good news" type, and in a worst case scenario, Susan is always a text away lol. Susan has enough mom anxiety for all of them. XD So glad you enjoyed these last two updates (I read your comment on the last one too) and I just wanna agree-- you're right about the relief thing. It's purposeful comedic relief so we as the readers get a chance to let the breath we've been holding, out. I'm so glad that came across well <3 You and others pointed it out! Lastly... I think someone else commented recently and said "wouldn't it be funny if Kinley got hit by Jaxsen's car and thats how they first meet?" LOL. I can promise that that's NOT how they meet, but it would be a pretty good coincidence. If Kinley were the one to run into Jaxsen though, his reaction to the ordeal would 100% depend on if Jaxsen left a dent in Kinley's pretty red sports car LOL.

2024-04-11 02:43:02 +0000 UTC“I’ve been hit by a car. You get over it.” 🤣🤣🤣 This last line just struck me as hysterical, maybe because of feeling relief after the emotional outpouring. But it also makes me feel like it should be a theme… ( I think Jax would recover faster from being hit by a car than Kinley would. But Kinley is also more likely to just be like ‘wtf asshole watch where you’re going’ where Jax seems like he’d be concerned… XD ) Anyway. This is good. Kinley is definitely allowed to be heartbroken and need time to move on. And I deeply appreciate Fletcher insisting that therapy would help him. Please, please hold him to that, Fletcher. I’m also willing to give Kinley a little leeway on the sleeping around thing. The loss of his phone provides an easy, temporary fix, but it will be more meaningful for him to get his phone back and *purposely* delete those apps and the random numbers. I think you’ve mentioned that Jax will eventually help with that push for therapy, and that will be lovely, too. This was fantastic. It was a much-needed resolution to many issues, or at least the start of one. He still owes apologies to the rest of their friends, but this was the hardest I think. I’m going to assume “stop trying to get between you” will also mean stop doing things like running off on his own, acting out, and picking fights. So maybe he’ll be able to actually start enjoying this trip, even while he’s starting to heal. It’s also worth noting that Kinley doesn’t seem concerned about his parents trying to reach him… I can’t remember if his home life has been discussed at all, but on a cross-country trip like this, even if he’s an adult, you’d think he’d want to be able to contact his folks, or be able to be reached by them. Though suppose it’s likely they’d have Susan’s number, and/or Fletcher’s, if there was some kind of emergency…
