Well, this is unusual.
For the first time ever, I'm making the PSD file available (see it above), so if you have a .psd compatible program, you can explore the PSD file in details, play with layers and whatnot, also, it's a good insight into my workflow.
In case you don't have a .psd compatible program (Photoshop, Manga Studio, Gimp, etc.) You can see here the step by step process involved into making this cover.
1 - I used Manga Studio's manequims and posed them, because this pose was hard to get right without references and I didn't got photo-refs on this.
2 - I individually sketched each character in different colors to help identify them, since they overlayed each other.
3 - Then I sketched in the clothes.
4 - Then I merged it all together and cleaned overlapping lines.
5 - Then I made a clean lineart and colored it,
6 - Shaded and put on some light effects,
7 - and finished with some finishing touch-ups, like more detailed hair, paw knuckles and blended better some smaller details. I also threw in a gradient effect to darken a bit the lower part of the drawing.
8 - Finally, I lazily put up a gradient background with a white outline around the characters.
I did it all in Manga Studio 5, on a 2000x3075 pixels document on 600dpi (double the dpi's compared to what I used to work with before). I've no idea how long it took me to draw this, but I did redo the first sketch a few times before I got it right, but I deleted those. :<
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this little insight on the comic's cover. :D
