If you have not already been suggested this channel to watch, The Fat Electrician on YouTube is a history content creator that is also one of the greatest story tellers I have ever seen. He does mostly military history and equipment and it spans from the American Revolution through the late 80s. He did a video about soldiers taking drugs in WWII. Particularly a Finnish soldier who took his platoons entire supply of drugs and ended up skiing all over the place, killing trees and generally making a nuisance of himself. This is the link to that video, but I would most definitely say check out his other stories. He even does a couple of videos on animals in war.... Namely Sgt Reckless the highest ranking animal in US Military history and the Devil Duck. The Marine duck that participated in 2 amphibious landings and was credited with defeating a Japanese chicken. :) https://youtu.be/NazN5WcXwio?si=y9D6uMVcAvTLzTAF

First I want to say, good thing you went to watch a long format as you started this show. You mentioned skipping intros. For this show in particular, im glad you are not skipping, because its considered a cardinal sin to skip the intro with the Band of Brothers Community. Nothing will get you disliked so quickly so i guess its dumb luck lol xD So a couple of your questions you asked about this episode (no spoilers) - The white powder you saw being put on "popeye" was blood clotting powder. - In real life, that German soldier and the American solder were really about 100 miles apart. It has been known that some Americans with German heritage would join the German army. The reason you heard what seemed like all those German prisoners executed was because during the invasion, the military was told to not take any prisoners. They needed everybody available to secure the beaches and surrounding towns and roads in and around Normandy. Taking prisoners would have to wait. Try your best not to hate any character here. This whole show has moral grey areas and every solder portrayed in this show represents an actual veteran. A lot of morally questionable things happen in war of course, so all you can do is sit back, and try to empathize. Nobody is good or bad in this show. Everybody is going through their own struggles and morals. Love the episode, loved your reaction. It hits hard.
