300: Rise of an Empire would be ok to continue the saga after taking some time to heal all the violence we've seen. Chernobyl is a good mini series. I'm looking to see it too again with Inna's reactions. If You think that war in Vietnam could be possible genre to open too, Good Morning Vietnam could be light way to start, maybe Platoon next... Apocalypse Now... there are quite a lot of which to choose to go on...

Regard a few historical things after watching this movie. The battle of Thermopylae on which this story is based was just a footnote in the history of the Persian Empire (~844BCE - 330BCE). The Persian Empire had conquered most of what is now Iran, Iraq, Turkiye, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, plus parts of Greece, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Egypt ... Persia was the most civilized state at the time only comparable to Ancient China The Greeks were a nuisance, a stuborn people that didn't want to be part of the prosperous Empire. Because of regular Greek uprisings persia tried to subdue them in order to keep peace and order in that part of the Empire (nowadays western Turkiye and Greece). Sparta was one of the city states not willing to give up their independence. Do not mistake however that they fought for the freedom of their people; they fought for the priviliges of the few Spartans who formed the elite, just as the other Greek city stataes. Most people living in those lands were slaves of the city states. The battle of Thermopylae was not a Greek victory, because before the battle the Greek gave up much of their lands and shortly afterwards Athens was burned to the grount by Xerxes. After the battle of Salamis, which was an unexpected Greek win which resulted in problems to supply the Persian army. The son of Xerxes, Artaxerxes, made peace with the Greek city states and they agreed to not hinder each other anymore. We still know about the heroic fight of Leonidas and his 300 because of the influence of the Greek culture on our own Western culture; such as historians like Herodotus who wrote his "The Histories", partly memoirs and partly "objective" history. His Histories remains one of the earliest accounts of both The Persian Empire and the Greco-Persian wars. The Greek saw the wars as a fight between slave makers Persia and the "free" Greeks ... and we now know this not an objective point of view. Just like in our days cities, countries, empires had diplomats, emmisaries and interpreters in their service. Xerxes did not have talks with Leonidas on the battle field. Talks between Greeks and Persians at the time was most likely Aramic/Persian and Greek. Only after Alexander the Great had conquered the Persian empire, he and his successors (Diodochi) tried to Hellenize the Empire; spreading Greek culture, language, architecture, religion and political institutions. Later the Romans admired Greek culture so much they incorporated much of it into Roman culture followed during the Renaissance by the Western European culture. This was the 3rd time I watched the movie and I really enjoy how close they managed to make a film look like a/the graphic novel.
