Gravity Bearings: Art (PNGs)

Greetings All!

I definitely wanted to try to turn a base item into an actual high level threat, and this is what came about in an experimental way.

The idea of bearings from a Spelljammer ship having compressed Gravity Wells in it tickled me, so that was a shoe in. The Bearing aspect, and being able to add in additional bearings seemed like a natural fit. The dual saves of Dex and Con got a little tricky, but easier with the automatic fail. I would love some notes on wording or thoughts in general.

I love some traps, once I finish polishing this I will have to get to work on my notes for expanding the other adventuring gear favorite - hunting traps.

Description:

Tales hold that these glass orbs are pulled from the very hearts of colossal engines that let ships travel beyond the stars. Resembling large bearings in size, hence the name, these wonderful small violet glass structures are each surrounded by a ring of engraved brass. Within this glass and brass housing beats a compressed cosmic display, warping light into a dazzling symphony of color and form. On the rare occasion that they ever exchange hands, common courtesy states you share the passage ‘store separately.’

• As an Action, the user can place between 2-6 of these tiny glass balls to cover an area of 5ft square and speak the command word. A creature moving across the covered area must succeed a DC: 16 Dexterity saving throw or trigger the Gravity Well feature. A creature moving through the area at half speed doesn’t need to make the saving throw.
• Gravity Well: When triggered, 2 of these bearings intentionally collide and release a massive gravitational pull centered on the space the bearings occupy. The triggering creature’s Speed is reduced to 0 and automatically fails the following save.
  • Each creature within a 20ft radius sphere must make a DC:16 Constitution saving throw or suffer 4d12 Force damage and be pulled directly towards the bearings, ending in the closest unoccupied space. On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not pulled.
  • Any objects within the radius smaller than large are also pulled towards the bearings.
  • Additional bearings over the base 2 increases the damage by an extra 1d12 force damage per bearing placed.
  • After use, any placed bearings are Destroyed.
• These bearings are typically found in a grouping of 4-10, but stored individually with dividers.
