Helm of the Fiend: One-Sided.

Greetings All!

I really like how this turned out, inspirect be quite a few different helms. Lord knows, I’m a sucker for horns and demonic vibes.

The balance of this item is stronger than a regular Very Rare, but offset with a pretty strong curse. Not so much an active one, but a consistent one for higher level play that could rip away a PC from a player.

Description:

A relic of darkness. These helms were crafted from the corpses of fallen fiends and forged into a decoration for dark champions and generals. Rarely would a mortal or non-fiend prove themselves in the lands of hell, but those that could rise among the most vile wore these as a sign of station.

Tabs:

• While worn, Magical Darkness doesn’t impede the user’s Darkvision, and they gain Resistance to Fire damage.
• The user can speak and understand Infernal through the helm.
• The helm has a number of Charges equal to the user’s Proficiency Bonus, and it regains all expended charges daily at Dusk. The charges can be expended in the following ways.
• Hurl Flame: 1 Charge - as an Attack Action. The user summons forth a ball of flame and hurls it at a target within 150ft. This is a Ranged Spell Attack made with a +8 to Hit. It deals 4d6 Fire Damage on hit and can ignite a flammable object not being worn or carried.
• Fear Gaze: 2 Charges - as an Action. The gaze of user becomes unbearable as energy sparks within. Any hostile creature within a 60ft cone of the user, must make a DC:16 Wisdom saving throw, or they become Frightened of the user until the end of their next turn.

Curse:

• This skull holds a curse of origin. When attuned, the user refuses to part with the helm. While attuned, if they die the GM rolls a 1d20 to determine curse’s effect.
  • 1-10: No effect.
  • 11-19: The user is reborn as a Horned Devil in a distant plane.
  • 20: The user is reborn as a Pit Fiend in a distant plane.
