Vampiric Star: One-Sided.

Greetings All!

Embracing some of the darker spectrum of weapons here, I enjoyed thinking up a new type of curse for a non-sentient but thirsting weapon. Hopefully it's not too strong for the advantages of using it, which are massive.

This is based around the spell Vampiric Touch with small adaptations to make it suitable for melee users. The wording is also interesting as I tried to leave it open to Necrotic Damage from other sources compounding its potential.

Description:

This silver and darkened steel morningstar seems lighter than most due to its hollow at its core. Filled with a shimmering crimson liquid and topped with a similarly colored gem, one might assume it is ceremonial in nature. The truth is much darker still,as this weapon still holds the eternal thirst of the lords that once wielded it. Made for the breaking of foes, it holds few equals.

• This weapon grants an additional +2 to Attack and Damage Rolls.
• Blood Wage: As a Bonus Action, the user is able to call forth the forces within the rod. On a hit, the mace deals an additional 2d6 necrotic damage, and the user regains hit points equal to half the amount of necrotic damage dealt during this attack. If an attack reduces a creature to 0 hit points, the user regains the amount of damage dealt. This feature lasts for 1 minute, and afterwards cannot be used again until the next dusk.
• Cursed: Once the user attunes to this weapon, its curse extends to them. While cursed, the user does not wish to part with the weapon, keeping it within reach. If the user does not use the weapon in combat within a 24 Hour span, it will expend 1d4 hitdie of the user to feed its hunger, if the user does not have enough hitdie to cover the roll they will suffer 1 level of exhaustion. Attunement to this weapon can only be broken by the remove curse spell or similar magic.
