Please bare with me on this after giving a lot of thought I will have to say the worst main character in an Anime is Saitama from one punch man. I have to say this because one thing that makes a good character not only in an Anime, but also other literary works is the Journey that has conflict and struggles to make the character the way he and or she is. Saitama has none of this quality except for the fact he is feeling bord because things are too easy for him. The fact he beats all his opponents in one punch takes away the science of danger because we all know he will beat anyone he is up against in one punch.

Overall that anime/manga is just makes me angry now. It could have ended already, but the author decided that NOPE gotta keep the story going cause 1 part of it wasn't 100% a happy ending. Idk I think this is an issue I have with most anime I've seen that there cannot be a sad ending or a bittersweet ending.

My personal worst MC has to be Himemiya Chikane from Kannazuki no Miko. She's handed everything that she could ever want on a silver platter while also tricking Kurusugawa Himeko into hating her. How does she do this? [tw: r*pe mention] She decides that she's going to join the Orochi, their sworn enemies and so that she ensures that Himeko kills her in the end is by r*ping her and we, the audience, is supposed to feel like this is romantic? That they have some kind of chemistry solely because of their past lives? Nah, man. [/tw] I despised what Chikane did to Himeko and, to this day, I will never watch Kannazuki no Miko ever again. That plotline continues to leave a bad taste in my mouth and this series should not be in the shoujo-ai/yuri section because of how twisted and warped this "romance" between them is. It just glorifies abuse, in my opinion, too. No one should sexually assault like that and then be treated as this "uwu pls feel bad for me" woobie.

Tatsumi from Akame Ga Kill. While i did enjoy the show, Tatsumi feels like a default RPG character that was not customized whatsoever. He has a generic sad backstory about a guy from a small village who’s two closest friends die so he decides to fight the evil government! He doesn’t really earn anything, and only becomes powerful after taking Bulat’s Incursio after he died. And in generic fashion, he sacrifices himself for “tHe GrEaTeR gOoD!”

Keita Suminoe from Kiss x Sis is the most unrelatable protagonist considering two sisters are horny for him as the main plot. He is the most sigma male that whenever he gets into a sexual accident, he either reacts too slowly or tries to make up an excuse for something clearly out of his control. The dude doesn't know how to be a chad but unrealistically attracts his sisters, a teacher and his teacher's CHILD. Also, can I mention he NEVER INITIATES? I can't imagine his sisters being satisfied with him in the long run when he isn't taking charge. His sisters will slowly fall out of him as he isn't spicing things up in their rom-com house play. Hecc, I won't be surprised if Kiss x Sis has a sequel that involves NTR because Keita is SO FUCKING DENSE and such a mood killer. I really pity the sisters as their younger brother couldn't really make up his mind too and just settle for 'both'. He plays with their heart a lot and frankly, the relationship looks kinda toxic considering both sisters are fighting over him and he doesn't even want to give a clear answer on who he chooses. TRASH PROTAGONIST. MAKE KEITA A CHAD INSTEAD. CHOOSE THE BETTER GIRL, AKO SUMINOE. She gets shit done like a responsible older sister.

And then jumping into the fight himself as if he can do anything useful. Yet he seems to think he's some hero or something. Fuck right off.

I'd say Hiroshi Kuzumi from Ookamikakushi is a good contender. He's a bland main character that doesn't have a strong sense of self identity and forwards the plot by merely existing. He is almost entirely a reactionary character, and in the times he does something actively, it's in service of making the situation worse. The plot attempts to make him a functional main character by the end of the story, but really, I see his involvement as entirely optional. I may enjoy the anime enough, but this character is really not a good main character.

He is one of the most annoying, pathetic, dumber than a rat little pieces of shit I've ever seen in anime.(I have just a burning passion of hate for this guy) Just everything about him and every decision he makes throughout the show is just baffling especially in the second half. The second would have to be..Meliodas, because he felt like he was written by someone who didnt (or couldn't) understand how to make a likable, but perverted MC (See Issei Hyoudo from DxD as a good example) and while i never got past ¾ of season 1 he just felt like a more tame version of (Dub) MHA mineta. Also wanna add that Eren Yaegers character also sucks but that's primarily because how he acted in the ending. Up until then, he wasn't that bad imo.
