2026-03-08 14:39:16 +0000 UTCWooow thats a fire touch they added to it. I couldnt put words into why it felt different but I feel like thats probably why I felt like the race felt so different in Oguri's perspective. They did real good with playing us this race without actually lying to us like she was racing next to the other racers.

2026-01-18 00:00:14 +0000 UTCThey really do the fake out quite well If you go back and look at the scenes of the race you will notice that Oguri Cap is never actually shown in any of the wide shots. And in all of the shots of just Oguri you wont see any of the other racers she is competing against except for when she is getting lined up at the gate you can notice that the other races are wearing their training outfits as well. Only in G1 races do the umas wear their official racewear

2026-01-17 10:17:49 +0000 UTCThe oguri rule is crazy lol A rule for if youre so good you can break the rules. Yo thanks once again for filling in all the gaps that I didnt know about, from this point I have read all the tips yall gave me. I have recorded ep 10-11 already so I'll be clueless still but I got it down how it works now. So the "classics" is only the most important 3 races of horse races only because it's the races that's specific to a certain year/age range you can compete. So makes sense why every trainer would target that first since we can compete in all the other ones whenever. Good to know theres a Dream trophy era too so we could possibly see Oguri racing other elite racers even though they're a bit older. And you answered something else I was wondering too was what made Oguri so different than all these other top level horses. But the answer is he was just literally built different lol that's even more insane, just a randomly born quick horse with no crazy bloodline. Its really fire you went through informing me everything without spoiling ahead of the plot, thank you bro!

2026-01-13 09:31:27 +0000 UTCOguri cap was SO good that people could see her in the race even when she wasnt lmao that had to of been the peak time to be a horse racing fan. Yo I'm HYPED for these G1 races now that we have several fast horses in the same race its way more intense. And YO I loved those spikes, I wasnt a fan of gold too often but i thought it looked so fire as shoes tho! I wasnt on oguri cap level tho lol. And luckily I havent gotten any spoilers yet, if i do I'll point them out so you can slap em first and I'll follow up with the second one! And got you, thanks for that heads up I'll skim thru the video after I edit to make sure it smooth. Appreciate yalls help thru this series!

2026-01-13 08:41:23 +0000 UTCI'm reading in order of shorest to tallest comments so I just figured it out from you thanks bro! Wooow so that's like a platinum achievement in the horse racing. I guess it's too late for Oguri to be able to be a triple crown then since getting in late
jay K
2026-01-13 08:26:10 +0000 UTCOthers probably explained it as well, but just to make sure: The Triple Crown is winning three specific races in a single year. A horse can only attempt this once in a lifetime, there are no second chances. This is why Triple Crown winners are *extremely* rare. In all of japanese racing history, there have been only 7 (seven) Triple Crown winners total. 7 out of ~300.000 horses since the Triple Crown was established.

2026-01-12 22:23:59 +0000 UTCWas gonna answer a few of the questions you asked here, but I see someone else already left a wall of text that answers everything, so I'll let you read that aha. One thing I will add that the other person missed though, is that Rudolf's whole imagination of Oguri in the Japanese Derby is based on real life as well. Some people reportedly saw a "gray phantom" blasting past the other horses during that race, and supposedly that was Oguri. But other than that, you're finally at the point where the races start getting crazier, so I'm excited to see your reactions to what happens when Oguri gets to the G1 races, and if anyone's spoiled that for you, I'mma slap em. Also, YOU HAD GOLD RUNNING SHOES?? THEY LOOK FIRE. You must've been the local track protag :D (Also as an FYI for when this goes to Youtube, there are a few stutters in the video. First thought it was just my internet, but it happens at the same point in the video.)

2026-01-12 21:45:14 +0000 UTCDetails for Episode 9: ----------- Tenno Sho 40:50 There are two Tenno Sho races, one in spring and one in fall. Even among G1 races, these two are very prestigious, being part of the "Big 8" G1s in Japan. The Spring Tenno Sho is also the longest G1 race in Japan and tied for the longest in the world, at 3200 meters. Also, the spring version is exclusive to 4 years old and up, which translates to the senior year in Umamusume. Oguri and her classmates are still in their Classic year (3 years old in real life), meaning that they cannot compete in it until next year. The fall race is available to 3 year olds, though most will try for the Kikuka Sho instead as it is the last race of the Triple Crown. ----------- Tamamo Cross 41:40 Yeah, Tamamo is in her senior year at this point and cannot compete in the classics. ----------- Classic Rules 43:18 Maruzensky's case is a little different, as she couldn't run due to technically being a foreign horse. 1:11:53 The classics are exclusive to classic year racers, so there are no more chances. It is a once in a lifetime event. Next year, Oguri will be too old to participate. Also, some other people get confused by this so I'll just write this here in case. The classics are the only ones with these weird rules, and Oguri is free to participate in other G1s as long as she qualifies. ----------- Trainer License 44:03 The test that Kitahara needs to take actually exists in real life. It only held once a year, and is extremely difficult to pass. Out of hundreds of applicants each year, usually only a single digit number of people pass. Some years, nobody passes. ----------- Pedigree 53:04 The interesting thing to note here is that Oguri had a very unremarkable pedigree compared to other horses. As far as I know, the real horse only had one notable grandparent while most other horses are all descended from very notable bloodlines (Chiyono O being Maruzensky's son being an example). Oguri was just some kind of anomaly. Even his children weren't particularly noteworthy, so something about Oguri in particular was just different. ----------- Twinkle Series/Graded Races 56:05 The G1s are at the top of the Twinkle Series. The Twinkle Series encompasses all of the races that take place on the national level, from open races all the way up to G1. The Dream Trophy League is something different that was shown on the board at the top of the hierarchy a few episodes back, but it doesn't matter for Cinderella Gray. It's basically just where all of the characters race after their real careers are over. For example, Rudolf's real life career already ended by the time that Oguri was racing, so she has retired from the Twinkle Series and is now in the Dream Trophy League. ----------- Going up in the ranks 57:02 Going to the national level and to higher grade races isn't really something that is done as a shortcut. If a horse wins qualifying races and is good enough, they compete at a higher level. There are actually G1s that are exclusive to horses in their junior year (2 years old in real life). Also, G1 level racers will still run in G2 or even G3 races sometimes, so it's not something that's just set in stone. ----------- Arm/Leg Colors 57:37 You are correct, the gradient from dark to white on her sleeves and socks represent how the real horse's legs when from brown to white. Other characters have similar details, like different colored gloves or shoes based on the real horses' legs. ----------- Mejiros 57:47 The Mejiro family are based on the real life Mejiro Farm, which produced strong lineages of notable horses. ----------- The Oguri Rule The rule change actually did occur in the future, and is sometimes called the Oguri Rule. The character that they show when talking about the rule is T.M. Opera O, a notable horse that used the rule to participate in the 1999 Classics.

2026-01-12 21:11:47 +0000 UTCI left some general information on the series, some context for different strategies, details related to real life, and info that isn't fully explained in the story in a comment on episodes 6-7 if you are interested. Details for Episode 8: ----------- Classmates 2:10 These characters are from the same generation as Oguri. All of them are still pretty early into their careers, so they don't have too much experience yet. ----------- Classics 8:23 The classics refer to the Satsuki Sho, Japanese Derby, and Kikuka Sho. They are once in a lifetime races that need prior registration, which was the cause for the discussion with Rudolf last episode. ----------- Named Characters 13:00 Generally most of the main characters are at least somewhat important. I left some general information on the series, details related to real life, and info that isn't fully explained in the story in a comment on episodes 6-7 if you are interested. ----------- Horse Lengths The lengths refer to horse lengths, which are approximately 2.5 meters each. 12 lengths would mean she was 30 meters ahead of second place. ----------- The Reporter While Fujii isn't a real person, I have read that he is at least based on a real reporter who had connections to people in the Symboli Farm, which is why he speaks to Rudolf and has a plush in the office. ----------- Previous Seasons 17:46 In regard to real life, Cinderella Gray is actually the earliest season, being based on the late 1980s. Rudolf ran in the early/mid 80s. Also, Cinderella Gray is in a different timeline from the other seasons, so while many of the same characters show up, the story and everyone's relationships are different. Oguri and Tamamo are actually roommates in the other timelines. In regard to Rudolf, she probably wouldn't be a very exciting protagonist as she was too dominant, and only ever lost due to injuries or sickness. Rudolf's real life son is one of the protagonists though. Side note: Maruzensky, who ran in the 70s, went completely undefeated. His jockey even slowed him down on purpose during a race at some point because the track was bad and he didn't want him to get injured, but he still won by 7 lengths. ----------- Marking Opponents 26:07 While I don't know if it is Yaeno's main strategy, there are definitely some horses that do this. There is a famous jockey named Matoba who was known as the "hitman" due to marking the strongest horse in a race and causing huge upsets. Apparently he hated the nickname though, because both he and the horse he rode were subject to a lot of hate. ----------- Comparing Central Horses to March 27:19 These Umas are actually a lot stronger than March (not too sure about Black Ale, but Yaeno definitely is). The only times Oguri had difficulties with March were due to her shoe issues (an infected foot in real life). It's less that any of these characters are weak than that Oguri is just on a different level. ----------- Yaeno Muteki The reason for her traditional theme/outfit is that the real horse was raised on a very traditional farm who wanted to prove that Japanese bred/raised horses could still compete at a high level. Yaeno Muteki was their strongest result. ----------- Public Support for Oguri 34:43 Public support for Oguri to be allowed into the Derby was real and actually a very big deal just like in the show. The same thing actually happened with Maruzensky, who was not allowed to compete due to technically being a foreign horse.
