2026-01-13 06:20:02 +0000 UTCBroo! Hall of fame comment, this really shows how much effort they put into making this match the real horses as close as possible. That's actually crazy. Also Rudolph actually being able to finish their own race without the jockey spanking him is crazy, these horses really be racing by theirself! It's also interesting how they make it make sense like Oguri's bad shoes represents an infection. This is so clean! This clarified a lot on the real life horse side of things, I'm even more impressed with this writing knowing they made it as historically accurate as possible while still being this entertaining and action packed!

2026-01-13 05:55:20 +0000 UTCOne quick tidbit. Horses usually start racing at 2 years old and some races are set for certain ages. The classics mentioned in the episode are only open to 3 year old horses. So in Uma Musume, there is only one chance to get into the race. There is no second chances.

2026-01-11 17:02:38 +0000 UTCA bit of a long comment, but I'll do my best to answer questions and add some context for real life information or interesting details: --------------------------- Historical Accuracy When it comes to historical accuracy, Cinderella Gray is extremely close to real life, even compared to the other Umamusume shows. It isn't just the final placements in races that are the same as in real life, but also the positioning of each horse during the races and the strategies. Later on, we sometimes get diagrams of everyone's positions as the races progress. Even some character relationships, personality traits, interactions, conversations, etc. are based on real life. The human characters are also based on real people or combinations of multiple real people. While a lot of the drama it is indeed on the writers, a lot of the it is actually very closely based off of real world conflicts and drama. For example, Oguri's messed up shoes in the beginning were a reference to a foot infection that the real horse had. Even Belno recognizing and fixing the issue is because she is partially based on Oguri's farrier, the person who actually found out about the issue and was in charge of taking care of Oguri's hooves. Even going with Oguri to Tokyo is based in real life, as the farrier was given an exception to go with Oguri after he left Kasamatsu. Oguri's messed up legs at birth are also based on real life. The real horse was actually neglected by his mother as a result, so the kind personality that her mom has in the show is based on the horse's caretakers in real life. --------------------------- Race Strategy For additional clarification, horse racing differs in that there are no set lanes. As a result, racers have to fight for good positions by blocking other racers or even pushing them out of the way using their bodies. That said, there are rules regarding this, as excessive force or swerving directly in front of another horse can be extremely dangerous and are penalized. Furthermore, some horses are better than others at maintaining high speeds or pushing themselves in the last spurt, and this influences where they choose to position themselves. Other factors include the horse's personality, as some horses just want to hold certain positions. The reasons can vary from a simple desire to be at the front to trauma from other horses causing them to want to stay in the back. A racer might also choose to run on the outside if they get blocked or to avoid rough inner turf. Because most racers normally want to run on the inside, the turf near the inside rail can get very messed up and difficult to run on. As such, if it is raining, jockeys may choose to avoid the inside due to how rough it is. As for the jockey's role, it varies greatly based on the horse's intelligence. In some cases, the jockey needs to use the riding crop to motivate the horse or get them to do certain things. However, some horses are able to implement strategies by themselves. For example, Rudolf's jockey never had to hit him a single time in most races, and he would time things by himself. At one point he actually did hit him because he thought he was going to lose, but Rudolf ignored him and decided when to accelerate on his own timing, winning the race. --------------------------- Nicknames/Titles 2:21 A lot of the nicknames and titles that the characters hold are directly from real life. This includes some of the more unbelievable ones, like "The God of Destruction" or "The Centurial Overlord". The "Beast" title is shared by a lot of different horses, usually with some type of modifier (ex. Narita Brian was called the "Shadow Roll Beast/Monster"). --------------------------- Oguri Plushies 5:13 As far as I know, the real Oguri was so popular that he was the first Japanese racehorse to get official plushies as merch. They were so popular that apparently children would buy them as some sort of trend. --------------------------- Fujimasa March The real Fujimasa March, March Tosho, was the only horse to ever beat Oguri in the regional races. To be fair, Oguri did have a foot infection. --------------------------- Concerts/Singing As far as I know, the closest thing that I can find to the post-race concerts in real life were performances by Kitasan Black's owner. Kitasan is one of the main characters of the main series and a very popular horse in Japan, so his owner's concerts after Kitasan's victories may have been an inspiration for the concerts in the series. As for the singing, all of the songs in the series are performed by the voice actors, with the exception of Cinderella Gray's openings. As such, the concerts you have seen in the show and the ending are sung by Oguri's voice actor. --------------------------- Oguri's real life trainer The real life story of Oguri Cap and her original trainer is a lot sadder than in the show. Apparently, the trainer really didn't want to let Oguri go and continued to be upset regarding the decision. In Cinderella Gray, Kitahara is sort of like a combination of the owner, who gave up Oguri to let him shine on a larger stage, and the trainer, who did not want to let him go. 26:19 I am not completely sure about this as I cannot find a source, but apparently, the real trainer wasn't able to move on from letting Oguri go and being unable to win the Tokai Derby. --------------------------- Eclipse first, the rest nowhere This is an English saying referring to the racehorse Eclipse. Back when he raced, horses would be disqualified and listed as "nowhere" if they were too far behind by the time that horses reached certain points on the track. Eclipse was so fast that he would be first place and every other horse would be "nowhere". --------------------------- New Characters Dicta Striker's real name is Soccer Boy. Some of the characters that they didn't get the licenses for have alternate names. Chiyono O, Ardan, Creek, and Yaeno retained their original names. --------------------------- Maruzensky and Chiyono O 51:35 Maruzensky is Chiyono O's father in real life, which is why they interact here. --------------------------- Walls in races 57:41 While they might not necessarily coordinate blocks, a lot of the time walls may form, often due to multiple racers individually marking a particularly strong opponent. It can also just happen due to everyone's positioning/pacing.

2026-01-10 20:56:01 +0000 UTCYeah Student council in my school was NOT like that. Based off how this show presented Rudolph I knew she had some type of power though that's crazy student council has that much influence. I was lowkey hoping she was still racing though I wanna see Oguri get to her level too! That's fire how much they modeled these characters based off the horses even down to the personalities lol I thought everything else was made up other than the result of the races. This lore goes Deep! After the series we'll run through some of the real horse races and see what it was like

2026-01-07 19:36:53 +0000 UTCSo just some info regarding Rudolf's role. She is indeed a student at the academy. She is the President of the Student Council. Now not sure how big of a role the Student Council was at your HS when you were there but if it's anything like how it was for me, it's basically just a glorified club here in the States. That is not really the case in Japan. Many school's Student Councils there actually have some power among the school regarding certain decisions and what not and it's considered a very important role, ESPECIALLY in large schools like what Tracen represents. So Rudolf is basically the most influential character in the school. She is not completely in charge of the school as the school does have a Director who you have not met yet. She also doesn't run the twinkle series itself though as that is handled by the URA (Umamusume Racing Association) which is modeled after the real life JRA (Japanese Racing Association). She's just a very influential figure amongst the Students of the Academy. Also, another tidbit regarding the lore of the character's and their backgrounds, almost every detail about the character's, whether it's there design, their personalities, or even who they get along with and don't, are all done for specific reasons tied to the actual horses they represent. As an example, you got a glimpse of it here but you'll see more in future episodes that Maruzensky acts kind of as a friend and a prominent role model for Sakura Chiyono O throughout this season. The reason for that is the real life horse Maruzensky was actually the real life Sakura Chiyono O's father
