I'm sorry I was really hoping for something.....else lol I love her unique voice (even though she sounds JUST LIKE Neon Hitch lol) But i just found it hard to Vibe to this song, the beat and how she sung it just felt off. Definitely an Album joint not a First Single IMO......But this whole Blackfishing thing is kinda crazy to me, Jesy has ALWAYS had thick curly hair and beyond B-Boy Dancing, What is it that I'm missing?!? Cause her biggest Look Reference in the video seemed like Christina Aguilera "Dirty" and she definitely wasn't singing in a way that felt "Black"....She had Nicki on the song but Nicki has been a fan of Little Mix and has worked with the group before. Diddy wasn't needed lol but it is he's Sample so you try and tell Diddy he ain't Needed lolol.....idk I personally feel that in this "Racially Sensitive" world we live in now it is harder to tell who is here for us and who is just trying to make some money off of us. Which is sad but unfortunately there are plenty out there with no Morals who will do anything n say anything to get a come up.....And of course I don't know Jesy personally but i don't feel her intentions where bad. Now if she came up trying twerk something I would definitely feel some type of way lol But not from her B-Boy dancing like she has ALWAYS done. *My Thoughts*

2021-10-12 16:58:21 +0000 UTCI personally feel like black fishing is a combination of darkening skin AND claiming to be something other than yt, so I don’t necessarily consider this black fishing but I see how one would. I don’t think her intent was bad however the actions are still extremely problematic in this racial climate we’re in! There are plenty yt artist (jojo, Yebba, Adele etc) that pay homage to black culture without cosplaying black women’s whole aesthetic. And just because nicki and puff ok’d this it does not mean all of us have to automatically approve and if jessy really love our culture the way she claims she shouldn’t have just dismissed and deflected our concerns PERIODT! I personally feel like we don’t gatekeep enough in our culture before we just start handing out invitations to the cookout! I also find it soooo very funny that Nicki often complains about being used for a career come up, but continues to give these stamps of approval. We’ve seen this play out more times than not, black artist works with yt artist and when black aesthetics no longer serves said yt artist they kick it and the black artist to the curb and I’d bet my left tit that the same thing will transpire with this situation 🤷🏽♀️

When I did see them Jesy always stood out to me as having a really striking look. She was always really gorgeous to me. I kinda knew she had image issues in the group with her weight and everything but I thought it wasn’t that serious cause she was that gorgeous. I’m excited to see where she takes her career.

I think we need to normalize that white women and men love our culture and aren’t trying to use it for their personal gain. I’m actually proud that someone finds our culture so creative and cultivating that they want to be like us. I personally don’t think anything is wrong with that.

That’s the reason she got Nicki and freaking Diddy, the originator of the song/sample, for a co sign. It’s also the reason why the ‘Bad Boyz For Life” video was heavilyyyy reference throughout her video (and cuz it was the sample). Also. from a video I saw a Youtuber said tanning where she’s from in the UK popularize tanning heavily. Something to research about more.

I feel that the evidence in the video is just that she's using Black aesthetics, Its that she's basically passing it off as hers. Noooww... if her intent was to simply pay homage to Black culture, I feel as though she could have found another way to show that. Like, she didn't have to throw on that wig or manually tint her skin the way she did. Like she could have left Black creators (that she might or might not have worked with) names in the credits. People don't realize how much THAT helps. But almost looking like she's playing "Dress Up" is the thing that's really throwing me.

People dont look like they are having fun. I am not familiar with little mix however I did enjoy this song and video. I really do hope Old Nicki comes back.
