Oh woooow he's been that all his life so he doesnt even know how to be human with emotions. I assumed he did because of his friendly demeanor around friends but that also is probably him just being polite, going in with this perspective yeah that makes way more sense that he's just numb to anything else but being a hero. Wow one thing about this show is they make sure each character on screen has a different type of depth to them. I know we only got a piece of Reinhardt's character so I'm looking forward to when we do get to unpack him even more

Reinhardt is fundamentally missing a human trait. He is, to my best knowledge, very emotionally repressed. When faced with tough things like killing his grandmother, his coping mechanism is to shut down everything he feels personally and use his "role" as a sword saint to take its place. And he does this constantly. Reinhardt is always putting on the sword saint face. He never separates himself from it. So when he says he felt no regret at all, Wilhelm-- pain stricken from his wife's second death-- can't bring himself to mend their relationship and instead addresses Reinhardt as how he always presented himself: Sword Saint Reinhardt-dono-- using heavy honorifics, and emotionally distancing himself from Reinhardt. At least thats how I saw it.
