I'm trying some new shit with word bubbles for the next few pages - going for something that feels a little more organic but not so hand drawn that I have to learn how to draw bubbles by hand in Illustrator.
I'll also be sketching out a few pages at once before putting final linework on any of them because I'm aiming for a lot of fast action and strategic shots as the heat gets turned up for the roommates.
My biggest challenge while writing these new scripts is that Matt is supposed to be this dominant figure in the lives of the roommates - but the stories aren't really about Matt. He (and his ginormous bone) can be/usually are the 'bone of contention', but it's more about Kevin and Leo's hang ups and issues. They are the vulnerable, insecure ones and Matt is invulnerable and unshakeable - BUT I don't want him to be an asshole, I want him to be oblivious to his privilege like a big dumb dog. Kevin and Leo think he's superior, but Matt does not.
This is a hard line to walk, but I've started with scenes like this - where Kevin and Leo are using Matt for body and when things go off the rails for them he's left flailing in the background shooting ropes.
I'm hoping to explore this more in future stories - but also keep it funny and sexy.
