New 12-Inch Roommate = New superintendent. This is Mr. Cornwell, aka "Cornhole" as he is called behind his back. He's your typical grumpy sitcom-super: he's annoyed when he has to do work, he's constantly on the look out for people violating the rules and he doesn't have much going for him.
The idea in my script treatments is that he considers the apartment building his domain and tries to lord that over the tenants - but is terrified of his bosses (aka Ms. Twubble, The Wagners, etc) So, he does the bare minimum as to not get in trouble. He's probably divorced. He probably his a kid. In a straight sitcom - most likely a daughter, in this comic - a son. Maybe he's cute. Maybe the guys fuck his son? Idk.
When I don't have big blocks of time to work on the comic, I will sit down and chip away at something small - like character designs. It takes a long time to come up with a functioning design - usually you do some sketches get an idea and then draw the new design, but then... you have to work through it, trying it in different poses and angles and then make revisions. This can take a while, so I've gotten in the habit of putting a new design into play with the knowledge that it will change over the next few months of constantly drawing it.
I referenced some television landlord/supers for color palette/inspo and knew that Cornhole needed to be really short (must be crotch-level with Matt for story purposes). The only thing missing here is his glasses. Poor vision is an excellent tool for misunderstandings and confusion.
