*Be warned the alt version with text is a mild spoiler for Uncharted 4*

I picked up the Nathan Drake Collection on a sale over the weekend, and promptly rediscovered my love for the Uncharted series as a result. I remember always playing the games when they came out, but I never revisited them once I'd finished the story. Maybe because they're so short I thought they didn't lend themselves to a lot of replay value at the time? They're big, action set piece-driven spectacles, not the type of genre that usually goes with sixty-hour playthroughs. I may have seen that as a negative at the time, but nowadays a tightly-paced blockbuster is a rare godsend. "Not EVERY game needs crafting and rpg elements!" he said while staring out the window in stained pajamas, muttering.

But let's get to last year's model here. Elena Fisher is a fantastic character. Expertly voiced by Emily Rose (who is also the basis for Elena's appearance that I, for the record, made no effort to reproduce the facial features of here) I can't think of a less cheesy way to put this, but Elena really seems like the perfect mix of strength and heart. Often the only girl in an all-boy team, she could have easily been the classic nagging girl trope, only there to roll her eyes when the men do something dumb/awesome.  Even on the rare occasions she does get pissed at the guys, though, her logic is usually sound and you can easily see where she's coming from.

Anyway, I finished the still admittedly kind of janky original and just started the sequel, which is every bit the huge leap forward where the series really clicked that I remembered it being. Can't wait to work my way all the way up to the epilogue game again. I never did play the portable one on the PS Vita, because dear lord don't tempt me, I have too many systems I collect for as it is. Was it any good? Let me know, and if you guys have any opinions about Uncharted I'd love to hear them in the comments.

Thanks! You probably won't like this Monday's pin up so much then lol, but as always I'll try to keep mixing up the body types as I go along. :)

Reinbach

Dammit I keep forgetting to comment on some of the pinups, lol. I like this one- I definitely prefer the more "basic" chest sizes with fanart in particular. I know you adore the "Watermelons on a mop" as you called it, and that's gravitated into a lot of your weekly pinups, but I do love it when they're busty without being HUGE, like in this one. Especially as your coloring and design work gets better and better.

ScuzzBucket

Yes! I remember!! though, i'm not gonna lie that it would be fun to see them together. As for Nadie, i don't remember if i said it when she appeared, but yes, they look alike, and they're both badasses.

David

Yeah, I'd definitely be okay with more Chloe-led entries.

Dorian Alton

That'll be interesting to see, I didn't remember Chloe getting a change. I never played them all back to back like I am now, though. It's crazy, whenever I get a "I'm gonna play the whole series!" wind I almost always peter out before I get all the way through, but I don't see that being a problem this time. The Uncharted games are so well paced and snappy that you're usually on chapter 10 before you know it. It really is fascinating to see how they evolve from game to game without waiting years in between.

Reinbach

I just replayed that part, and honestly found that to be a bit of brilliant writing as far as the implications go. It really showed that Nate was a pro and Elena was a newbie. She's all full of excitement because they're so close tot he treasure, but Nate wouldn't still be alive in this business if he didn't know when to fold. Good stuff.

Reinbach

I don't remember 3 being bad, but other than the cougar of a main villain I have almost no memory of it. 2 and 4 were my favorites for sure.

Reinbach

Thanks for the input! :)

Reinbach

Oh yeah, I loved that game. I wonder if that was one of the IP's that Square sold off? Maybe there's hope for a new one someday now.

Reinbach

Glad you like her! And maybe? I already did Chloe, though it was long ago enough that a remake wouldn't be unreasonable. Nadine rather coincidentally looks a lot like my Nadine in all but booty size, so I'm not sure I should try her lol.

Reinbach

Thanks! And yeah I agree, by the fourth game especially, she really felt like someone you knew.

Reinbach

I'd hoped they'd keep going with Chloe as the new lead, honestly. But Naughty Dog seems to have moved on exclusively to their depression porn games for the foreseeable future. X(

Reinbach

Thanks for sharing! I'd like to have a Vita, but it seems like you have to be a big JRPG fan to get the most out of it. As much as I like those games I rarely have time to finish them anymore, and they've already skyrocketed in price on ebay. X(

Reinbach

It did sound a bit underwhelming by the reviews at the time. Come to think of it it's really just the story and another Nolan North Drake performance I feel like I'm missing. A quick Youtube search for the cutscenes may be more viable than spending hundreds or a Vita on ebay. XD

Reinbach

Uncharted is one of my favorite game series with Nathan Drake probably being my favorite video game protagonist. Nolan North just does such a great job at making him charismatic and likable. Uncharted 2 was definitely a huge improvement over the first game and its my favorite of the series. Uncharted 3 had some cool set pieces but it wasn't as good as 2 imo. Uncharted 4 brought things back up again. It had the improved graphics of the PS4 plus a better overall story than 3. Even though they had the bs long lost brother plot it was still a great game. I do feel like Elena came off kinda naggy which is one of the reasons I'm partial to Chloe, plus Chloe's just hotter lol. I preferred Chloe's original design though, they gave her a full makeover for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Angelo

I recently just played them all too and you're right! It's funny because toward the end of Uncharted 1 it's more Elena who is interested in seeing it through and getting the treasure, Nate's kind of done with it.

crowspeak

I really liked the first two uncharteds but kinda dipped out before 3 & 4 came out. I was tempted to get back in when 3 came out. I had heard it was a janky mess so I stepped off again. From what I played Uncharted 2 was the best and Chloe Frazier made it better.

Jariah Synn

Uncharted: Golden Abyss was funny, it fixed a some issus I had with the previews games, is it worth buying a vita ? not really, would I still recommend it ? yes

Ray Ishimura

You wanna talk about replay value. Play Sleeping Dogs. Best game hands down.

Pup_Spark

Uncharted is by far one of my favorite IPs on PlayStation, even with it's not so good parts, like in the first game... i was so invested in the story that i was kinda pulled off when zombies appeared. I never got to play Golden Abyss, and to this point i want to but Vita is the only PS Console i dont' have... As for Elena, she is my favorite female character, she's great and, as you say, a mix of heart and strenght with a bit of cockyness just as Nathan. They're great together... and pretty hot. ¿Will you keep doing Uncharted art as you rep´lay the games?

David

Nice. Elana was always a nice part of that franchise. It was better to have a steady love interest accross multiple games, rather than a new girl every game like james bond does. And yeah, love the diolauge as always.

Slaughterbug

Oh, I should say nice pinup as well! Elena was always a fun character, and I'm glad they kept bringing her back, even if I also did quite enjoy the other ladies in the series. Chloe always got a few extra points just for Claudia Black's voice :D

Dorian Alton

A friend of mine once described Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the Vita as the 'direct-to-video' companion for the main series' 'big budget film' feel, and I'd say that was pretty accurate. It's set before the first game, so lacks any of the usual cast aside from Drake and Scully, and none of its other characters make any return appearances. It also heavily tries to feature the various Vita gimmicks (front touch screen, back touch panel, camera, gyroscope) in a way that prevents it from being played to completion on even a modded PSTV, and would require re-working with more standard controls if it were to ever get a modern re-master. I have strong memories of driving with my friend and night while he was playing it, and having to pull owner so he could turn on the car's interior lights, because the game required him to hold a document up to a bright light (via the camera) to reveal a clue. That said, for all my grumbling, it is a fun playthrough if you enjoy the rest of the series. I would not say it is work buying a Vita alone (though I do love mine), but certainly worth borrowing one.

Dorian Alton

Vita game was pretty meh. Being a launch title for a new system they went HARD on making you use the touchscreen, the rear touchplate and the camera. The traversal is fine but not up to the standards of the console titles and rhe gunfights are annoying
