Here we have Tohru from an anime called Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. On paper the show's premise is dangerously close to a tired old cliche: gorgeous magical woman falls in love with hopeless dope through a twist of fate or blind luck. Said dope is typically male and romantically inept. The twist in this show is that the magical girl not only falls for an adult woman instead of the usual teenage boy, but the woman is straight and not terribly interested in romance at all. She was perfectly content and functional before any of the magical hilarity ensued.
I can't recommend the show to everyone. As at times it's insufferably cute, I imagine anything not deemed a hundred percent adorable was mercilessly abandoned on the cutting room floor when the show was being written. And that's certainly a turn off for some. On my end I think I have a lot more patience for anything that breaks the mold, even a little. Plus I dug Tohru's design and wanted to draw her. And I know what you're thinking, "Reinbach, if the character is gay why not pair her with a woman for the pin up?" The truth is I kind of have a thing for presenting lesbian characters having sex with men. Guess I'll add that to the list of weird kinks I've developed since getting into this business full time.
