“It was the Kalderash clan that he attacked, and who cursed him.   I'm supposed to watch him, and to report certain things back to the clan.”  She held up her hand to forestall the question, “I can't tell you what I'm supposed to watch for, I'm sorry, and I don't know why I'm watching for those things.   To put it in terms you might be familiar with, that information is under the Fidelus, and I'm not the secret keeper, okay?”

Xander had been standing quietly, watching and listening to her, an expression of intense concentration on his face, before he nodded.  “Right.  I think I know what you aren't able to say, every curse we've ever encountered or heard about has some way of breaking it, right?”  

Jenny looked around and saw the others nodding, and even Darla had a thoughtful look on her face. Jenny nodded as well, she could do that without butting up against the oaths, and it did make sense that the clan would be worried about the curse breaking.

Xander continued, “From what Darla has told us, plus the Watchers Diaries, I don't think that any of us would like to see what happens if the curse breaks.  The only question is, what do we do about it?”

Buffy spoke up, “There's a couple of options, one, Jenny tries to convince her clan to let her know how the curse can be broken, so Angel can be warned.  I'm sure he doesn't want to risk letting the demon out any more than we do.  But I'm doubtful they would be willing to give her that information.  Gypsy's do tend to take their vengeance seriously.”   

Jenny snorted a laugh and nodded, getting a quick grin from Buffy, before the blonde continued.  “Two, we change him the way we changed Darla, but I'm not really in favor of that idea.  I don't like him enough to be as close to him as the pack has to be.  Not to mention he would probably think he has the same rights as Alpha, and that's not going to happen!”   

The others actually growled at that, even Darla, but Jenny could understand the reaction.  With his soul, the beast was a seriously mopey bastard and who wanted to spend time around somebody like that all the time?

“Third option, and the one that I'm leaning to, is putting the bastard out of his misery.   Has he actually done anything to help us, other than showing up and giving cryptic information?  He's actually as useless as Dumbledore when there's something going on, isn't he?”

Xander glanced at Darla and quietly said, “You've known him the longest, both with and without the soul, is there anything you can think of that he can provide us that you can't do?  Leaving aside the physical differences, obviously,” as Darla smirked.

The blonde shook her head, “He's not really trusted by any of the brethren here in Sunnydale, and even the non-violent demon types tend to avoid him, because Angelus used to hunt them for sport when he was bored, so the odds are they wouldn't tell him anything important.   I'm going to agree with Buffy, he needs to be dust.   He's suffered for over a hundred years, let it end.”

He looked at Joyce and Amy, and neither of them made an objection, so he nodded.  “We need to find out where he stays, because he's probably got more books and information that we can use, like the copy of the Codex that he had, and then he's vacuum chow.    An uncertain ally is no ally at all, and the security of the pack is paramount!”

All the women nodded, and said in unison, “Yes, Alpha!” which honestly freaked Jenny out a little, although certain things were starting to fall into place, when she remembered the attacks on the pig and Principle Flutie by those four students. It had happened after something happened at the Hyena exhibit, and wasn't there something about the man who brought the hyena's being torn apart?  Xander had been with the four of them at first, but not during the attack on Flutie, and wasn't that when he and Buffy became a couple?   

She remembered seeing references to Primal Possession in English's office during that Moloch mess, but hadn't thought much about it at the time, there were other things to be concerned about, but now...”

With a flash of realization, she understood what must have happened, Xander had formed his own pack, but they had completed the merging hadn't they?  

And now he and the others were offering to make her part of the pack? Xander turned to look at her, and his eyes locked with hers, boring into her soul, even deeper than what had happened in the library, and he said “Are there any other secrets that you are prevented from disclosing Jenny?  I'm not talking about things we just haven't learned about each other, but important things that could hurt the pack?”

She didn't hesitate, she shook her head, “No Alpha, nothing I can think of, and if I do remember anything I will tell you and Buffy immediately.”

There seemed to be a sudden release of tension in the room, and Alpha smiled at her, before pulling her into his arms and kissing her!  Holy Goddess could that man kiss! Was the last thing she remembered thinking before losing herself in his arms, only to whine in disappointment when he pulled away, only to find her arms full of Buffy, who kissed her just as forcefully.
