April Q&A

Our monthly Q&A session is open~! There are some new people in this tier this month -- welcome and thank you so much for your support!!! 🥺💗

Feel free to comment any questions you may have here (webcomic/OC related or not) and I'll be happy to answer them! Please don't feel pressured to ask anything either if you don't want to/can't think of anything this month 🥰

Aaah so sorry — just saw this one! I am such a sucker for comedy and romcom movies/books — if that wasn’t obvious already haha 🥰 My secret guilty pleasure though is reading creepy stories and listening to horror podcasts on YouTube, if that counts! ✨

Hmmmm. Main 3 favorite genres of movies and /or books?

Pumpkin

and i’m going to be paying special attention to pinkie promises from now on! what a tender detail 🥺

Ahhh I love that so much! it’s so cool to learn about your process as I watch the story unfold! i can’t wait to watch the relationship between Jon and Alex blossom 🥹

Ooh thanks for the questions! 🥰 A bit of both actually for the script~ I spent around a year scripting the entire story before I started illustrating, but I also go off script on occasion — usually with dialogue when I can find a less awkward way of wording something ✨ There are other instances too when I realize my script jumps ahead too much, and we need more explanation to make the message clearer. I remember that the flashback scenes to Jon and Alex as kids in Chapter 1 was a last minute choice to help introduce their characters better. I’m also winging the whole birthday party situation in our current chapter because the boys’ friendship in my original script came about a little too quickly and without as many speed bumps as I would like lol Favorite detail-wise, the themes of pinkie promises and Alex’s paintings make me very excited 👀✨ The conclusion to both of those has made me tear up while writing — and I just hope it’ll be as impactful to other readers when we get to the end too 😭😭💗

hey sarah! i have a question about your script process! did you decide the whole story/script ahead of time and started illustrating once it was complete or do you just go with the flow? and with respect to the story(as long as it’s not a spoiler haha) what has been one of your favorite details in It’s Kind of a Funny Story that makes you just grin like a fool when you think about it? 😍
