Thanks!! I think this is a nice change of pace, we're just 2 chapters in so I think things will pick up. I do hope that we will get back to Brock at some point, I think there are still loads to explore with him.

However I would not want this side story to take over the mainline narrative. I don’t think people should disparage this story tho.

2026-02-18 04:24:50 +0000 UTCI like this ,it brings in a level of interaction with other characters that have either been left on the wayside due to character inflation or lack of plot relevance while expanding on the in story universe that will ultimately affect Brock in the future. I can understand the concern about Red Riot being left on the wayside but chapters only come out once a month for that series anyways and from the look of things Rock Hard will post probably every other week after Hard Enough which isn't all that bad considering they take place in the same universe and are essentially the same story from different perspectives.

2026-02-17 22:43:59 +0000 UTCI gotta join some other voices in saying that this does not compare favorably to Red Riot. Frankly, I don't really see the draw of Yolanda's journey. The Battle Clubs seem lacking, especially with the tepid first showing from Pewter. Hard Enough started with Brock getting into a grudge match with the champ that was televised across at least two regions. In comparison, Rock Hard starts with an unnamed dude losing to a girl who's trying to cross her first location off her to-do list. I'm generally also not a fan of rehashing the journey aspect of the Pokémon story. There are a thousand other fics that have beaten that horse to death. I initially got into Hard Enough because it skipped over that and explored the other side of what we're used to. Judging by the title, the draw of the story is supposed to be the musical aspect, but I'm uncertain how well that can be implemented in a written medium.
