Beauty's Bedtime Stories, Episode Nine: Homer's The Iliad, Book Nine

Another month, another chapter! Welcome back to the Bedtime Stories, everyone! How are we enjoying this series so far? Is it a good one? Do you like the story? What do you enjoy most about the chapters each month? Let me know your thoughts!

This month Agamemnon swallows his pride and sends extends an olive branch to Achilles. Will he take it? There's a bit of a break in the action of battle this month, but the exchange between the Greeks and Achilles is a good one nonetheless. I hope you all enjoy it!

See you next month!

Comments

Thank you, Angela, for such a sweet comment! I'll admit this one is a struggle sometimes (feels like homework to prep it, making sure my pronunciations are okay 😄), but it makes me so happy to know you're enjoying it so much. The story is timely, that is very true. It makes my heart a bit sad that such is the case. In any event, the story is heating up for our heroes, so we'll see what next month brings! 💜💜

The Iliad is a wonderful story, which even thousands of years later, still speaks to us in these troubled times about the human condition...war, conceit, power, control, vanity, revenge, hubris, forgiveness, love, lust and so on. That said, the qualities of your voice and performance makes each chapter ironically wonderous and soothing, able to wash away the stresses of even the worst of days. I've no doubt you would have worked your magic and accomplished the same with *any* of the other stories presented for our vote. As one who voted for 'The Iliad' I am obviously pleased, but I know I would have been just as satisfied with any of the other selections, as you would have endowed them with the same spirit and attention. If you were reading the Sears Catalog, or recipes from a cook book, I believe you would still find a way to make it sound relaxing...or sexy, or funny, or dramatic, or whatever you intended. 🎭 Thank you sweetie!
