Monthly Update - August 2021

The summer is almost over (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway), and it's time for another monthly update. Or, as I'm beginning to think of them, another episode of B's Comedy of Errors. πŸ˜†

Get the latest on tech challenges, upcoming events, and even commissions in this month's riveting update (the last part just dripping with sarcasm)!

Have a great rest-of-the-month, everyone!

Monthly Update - August 2021

You're definitely cool for taking the leap and purchasing any kind of audio equipment! The AT2020 is a great mic and I'm sure you'll have a ton of fun with it. Having a mic that is user friendly and produces good quality sound as your first is a solid place to start! Believe it or not, I started with a Blue Yeti many moons ago, and gradually learned and evolved from there. I never recorded audios with it, but that's where I started experimenting with at-home music production. I had no idea what I was doing and didn't want to get into the heavier stuff until I knew for sure I could do it (and wanted to continue doing it). We all start somewhere, right? Good for you for taking that first step! 😊😊 With sharing the technical stuff, I try to be careful with that, because I get a lot of feedback telling me people don't actually want to hear it, they just want the audios. Thank you for saying that about my production quality, though. I want to produce the best audios I can for my listeners, so that's my goal every time I record/edit. If that's the end result of all the tech struggles like I had this month, well, I'm happy with that. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Aww, thanks, Fix! My audio geekery can reach epic proportions, though I do try to reign it in, so it's good to know I haven't bored you to tears yet. πŸ˜†πŸ˜† And yes, Halloween will be fun this year! *insert wicked cackling here.* πŸŽƒ πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Even when the specific tech talk is over my head, it's no less fun hearing you talk about what you're doing with all the gear and why. It's even *better* knowing that you actually get to realize your evil plans for Halloween this year. Woohooo!

Very insightful post (yours and Terry's). As an evolving and learning 'audiophile wanna-be', who just purchased an AT2020+USB (and thought I was SO cool in doing so), I see how far I still have to go! It's fantastic that your patrons get an insight into the 'craft' that goes into what you do, regardless if the technical side interests them or not, and realize that is part of what puts you in a class above the rest. The technical and production quality of your work is as good as I've ever heard, and you have given us a little glimpse into why that is so. Your attention to the details makes the difference between 'just an audio' , and the performance art that you achieve.

Ah, the audiophiles of the world unite! πŸ˜† I have an NT1 and an NT2A that I don't really use anymore. They're solid mics. I preferred the NT2 to the NT1, but both are pretty fantastic. The Shure mic just wasn't meant to be, I guess. A friend of mine uses a RΓΈdeCaster and loves it. I haven't tried the EV RE20 personally but I've heard good things. I'll definitely check it out! Thanks, Terry! πŸ’œπŸ’œ

When you talk tech, you get my attention. Sorry about the Shure experience. Are you an NT1 or NT1A girl? The 1 is light years better than the 1A. And if you ever buy a RΓΈdeCaster, (which I highly recommend), it instantly integrates with the awesome audio processing. I have two NT1s and they are super for binaural, event recording and music. I’m guessing you’ve tried the EV RE20. For your voice, that might be an interesting option.
