Well, balls.

We nailed it with the last murder mystery show. We also worked with the producer to earmark dates for three more shows this year. Each one gets a fresh script, and either Mr. Snapper or I host. (We have the decades of entertainment under our belts and know how to handle lines and a drunk crowd.)

On Monday, I got an email from a festival. I had applied months ago for us to make 500 snapper puppets and go do "Crocodile Rock" at this festival. I'm pretty sure I put on my application that we would need to perform Saturday since we couldn't supply a new set of puppets if we were selected to perform on Friday and promoted to Saturday's competition. We were chosen to showcase on Saturday.

The festival is the same night as our next show. Shit. Behind a couple of pressing sticky notes on my cork board, I see the list of festival dates on my agenda this season. Missed that when we were selecting dates.

The producer tried to shift dates for the mystery show, but there are so many moving pieces. It didn't work out and I had to decline this wonderful invitation. Boo.

Meanwhile, I was turned down by another festival for two different acts. The festival game is pretty curious because there's a numbers component. So many things to consider. I'm disappointed because it would've been cool, but that's a festival whose dates aren't even on my obscured notecard!

I have two more big events in my sights for applications this year-- one here and one overseas. While Dallas has a new festival kicking up this year, I'm not sure that I'll have the focus to participate if I was accepted. It's between one potential travel opportunity, the murder show, and another potential travel opportunity. I don't want to burn out. :)

No matter what, I appreciate your support so I can do this nonsense.

Well, balls.
