It's been a damn busy September for me.
This is a backstage photo just for you guys from my Tulsa improvised burlesque gig. I felt cocky and naked and a little bit like my exodus from Los Angeles is starting to pay off. I didn't have the same freedom to play in Los Angeles.
I sometimes wonder if I should get rid of old costumes I haven't worn in a while. Moving twice in seven months will do that. Maybe I should lighten my load a little. Creative types often have a hard time getting rid of stuff because that stuff may come in useful at some point. This is why I have a closet for just costumes and fabric in my home studio.
The costume for my improvised act came from two costumes for abandoned acts. I almost tried selling off the gown I wore because that act was a flop back in 2011. I just couldn't let it go. And it paid off six years later.
Do I turn this hybrid into its own act? I don't know yet.
I do know that the work I'm putting in on my body is paying off so I'm a bit happier with my naked silhouette.
