You win some, and then there are others.
Added 2017-08-14 19:53:11 +0000 UTCI flew home from the Golden Legend Champion Challenge last night with no crown. In fact, I flew home early so I could get back to my pups and Mr. Snapper.
The acts that won the actual competition were amazing.
Now that I can share, I'll tell you that I refined the act where I went from a showgirl to a shrimp (crawdad, whatever crustacean you prefer). It's elegant comedy that fits into a lot of show themes: classic, under the sea, Mardi Gras, food, animals. I'm incredibly proud of the number. I thank you for helping me create it. I'll share more tidbits from it soon.
I gained and strengthened some friendships this weekend. When you go through something like this (debuting an act at a festival while trying to make the person you are paired with proud), it helps to go through it with several other people who are experiencing the same thing. It's not easy debuting something at a festival and being judged by the same standards as an act you've been doing for years.
My next out-of-state festival is the Arizona Burlesque Festival in Tucson. That happens in October. I won't be competing but I will be performing the act that won in Oklahoma City.
