I created many acts my first year in burlesque. Any time a theme show would pop up, I would say yes to doing it. This was my Tiki Room act, created for a pirate-themed show that happened once or twice at the Redwood in downtown Los Angeles.
This was back when I still wore a navel ring. I was terrible about changing it out to match my costume. I worked a desk job in an office during the day and wasn't really showing it off much anyway. I took the ring out later that year.
I stopped performing this number back in 2010, I think. It just needs more oomph. Sparkly shoes don't make up for the fact that I needed a stronger act. I still have the comedy & tragedy tiki bra. I also still have the beaver belt.
Do I retool? Do I just hang onto the cool costume pieces that remain? It was a fun act.
I'm interested in your thoughts.
