Fuyuko Mie - reference sheet and the story behind the design

Fuyuko Mie, 35, co-owner of the Komadori Inn. Managing it with her husband since a couple of years before, when they took over the poorly performing business from the previous owner with her parents' life savings and turned it into a thriving enterprise. Although it has always been her dream and she loves her job, the hotel takes a heavy toll on their marriage...

When we created the concept of the game that "Komadori Inn" was to be, the character of the (married) boss was obvious, and we didn't even have to discuss it. True, we're using the "unhappy marriage" theme again as we did with Akari-sensei in "LaHS!", but the whole story of Fuyuko-san (and the reasons why this marriage is unhappy) will be completely different. As it happens, the theme of a mature, sexually unsatisfied woman fits perfectly into the list of characters that the game needed, and we couldn't let it go. And anyway, it shouldn't bother anyone, right?

Keeping in mind Fuyuko's story, her place in the game (and the fact that I wanted her to be different from Akari-sensei), this is the description that I've handed to our artist about her character:

She is very kind, caring and always tries to help, but she's also quite slow ("stupid"), naïve and can get clumsy. Guests turn a blind eye to her mistakes because of her good nature, positive attitude and will to fix her blunders. She falls into "bakadere" girl type (...).

Even though I wrote "stupid" it's not like she's going to be an idiot. 😅 She knows everything about her job really well, but will be slow in coming up with solutions to new problems, and she needs a calculator even for simple math. Having that cleared out, let's move to her looks.

She should be a busty MILF, with the biggest breasts of the three main characters. Long hair, any other than black. I think that Lucoa from Dragon Maid (her expressions and body type) matches my idea for that character, despite having different personality (narrow eyes and smile would fit her).

So now you know - the other two main girls will have smaller boobs. 😄 (what I cannot promise about the side characters). Also, here are some references I had in mind for Fuyuko-san.

With this, SleeplessMax went off to work and a moment later he came with the first proposals of Fuyuko's appearance.

First batch of the faces:

Though I loved them all, they looked too young and were a bit too far from the "bakadere" look I had in mind, so we dug deeper (but we're eager to go back to them when the time for side character comes 🥰).

We were close, but I just had to ask SleeplessMax to put the face number 1 on the rest of the hairstyles.

And there, we got it! After a quick debate, we've decided to give Fuyuko-san the face number 2!

For the body, it took us a couple of tries to get the proportions right, with the final proposition coming out like this:

This was also the first attempt at the Komadori Inn worker's uniform, but we'll get back to it later.

The pose above seemed to be a little bit too bold to capture her character well, so SleeplessMax came up with new propositions for the front view:

You should easily be able to tell which were chosen.

Before jumping to coloring, we also had one final discussion about the hair color, with this being our contenders:

Again, it's quite easy to tell what was our final pick!

But before her reference sheet could be finished, we had to come up with the Komadori Inn's logo and brand colors, and SleeplessMax did a tremendous job with that too!
