He didn't even WANT to go to the circus. Clowns are dumb anyway, but Maxim insisted. Said it would get his mind off of things. So reluctantly he went, but it's the strangest thing. Bastian has a habit of drawing attention when he doesn't want it, and from all the wrong people. This is where his coulrophobia starts. Or is it coulrophilia? Hard to say. Trauma works in weird ways.
