I'm sure in her heart she had already given up on reclaiming the husband she had once loved, and she viewed the current Gardar as nothing more than a cornered and desperate beast. But that one statement relit a small spark of hope for her. Ultimately, having that small hope quickly and devastatingly snuffed out was likely more traumatic than living without that hope in the first place.
