I've actually never seen this movie before! It's not on any legal site I can find. And even lots of the pirate anime sites doesn't have it. The image of the baron and the lily with all the strawhats infused is so creepy! And the whispers really took me out ๐ญ๐ญ

Where do you guys watch this? The only place I can find it is on Netflix Japan which does not have English sub... Pretty sure most fans haven't seen it yet

I love how unnatural and uncanny the giant "flower" is, with it's size and the lights and sound effects of it. I absolutely love how the entire portion on the mountain had zero music until the end, really adds to how desolate and hopeless it feels. I realized about 10 minutes in that you were not briefed that this was a horror movie, and I'm glad, probably adds to the experience

2025-08-08 19:29:33 +0000 UTCSomeone correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it, this movie was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, former employee of Studio Ghibli, who had never read or watched One Piece, prior. That's why it feels so different from everything else in the series. Again, I could be wrong, but I swear I read that somewhere, but can't substantiate it. He had a general idea of what the anime was about, but you can see his unfamiliarity with it in certain interactions, like Nami and Usopp after the ring toss, or Sanji not letting Zoro eat.

2025-08-08 18:53:49 +0000 UTCJust for Info, Mamoru Hosada, the director also worked on One Piece episodes , especially episodes within the G8 filler arc, which featured his recognizeable stellar brand and style of animation. It was very surprising to have some top tier animation for any filler of any anime series. Sadly for One Piece, but thankfully for his career, after Baron he left Toei Studios, and went on to direct movies masterpieces and box office juggernauts such as "The Girl who leapt through Time", "Summer Wars", "Wolf Children", "The Boy and the Beast" and lastly in 2021 "Belle"

2025-08-08 17:42:05 +0000 UTCThis was such a treat! tysm for reacting to this, I planned on watching this once I was caught up with the show (so I had plenty of one piece stuff to watch to ease the pain LOL but I ended up doing it a little early, I have about 10 eps until i'm caught up... ) but I got to say I have watched a few op movies here and there and this one is probably my favorite so far! I love love loved the creepy aspect 0_o... I believe you guys are watching Strong World too, and I'm definitely excited because that was the first OP movie I watched!
