I wonder what side of the political world would want the type of government Yuri is apart of in our world if they could get away with it? Can anyone guess? Plus people need to relax, its just a anime folks.

Yeah. It’s kinda crazy how this goes over so many ppl’s head. Like, you really are not supposed to be rooting for Yuri or the Secret Police and the author is not being subtle about that at all.

Made up or not, the Secret Police were basically rounding up anyone they didn’t agree with by labeling as “propaganda” and throwing them in jail for life with no trial or anything. People keep trying to make parallel to the modern era but you simply can’t. The backdrop to Spy Family is essentially a totalitarian government with no freedom of speech, and you’re not supposed to be rooting for Yuri if you know anything about the part of history they’re referencing.

Loid not understanding kids in those 3 little shorts at the end is way more relatable than he knows lol

Yuri’s part of the episode rings harder with what’s going on in the current world events. Propaganda and misinformation is a very scary but real thing that radicalized ppl do during war/conflicts. In this episode, Yuri ((who is has expressed his radical thinking to us viewers)) can actually empathize with Frank because he also justifies it for protecting his family. “Making my country a better place for my father/(sister for Yuri)” This is very important because what if he does run into Twilight? Will he choose his duty(radical views) over Yor’s happiness? Over family? :) He’ll be questioning what is the “right” thing to do? I also love how Anya read his mind when he visited “out of the blue” and patted him out of sympathy. He needed his sisters validation after a heavy mission like that. I’m sad the subs translate “chihuahua girl” into “stupid leash girl” they make him out to be so mean 😭

it’s so sweet that despite the fact that yuri knew what type of work he did he still decided to provide care 🥹

2 sides of the same coin with Frank and Yuri both believing what they're doing is for the sake of their families. Yuri is blindly loyal to a country that foster a surveillance state where a lot of people are afraid of being arrested by secret police where people are encouraged to ratting each other out. They may have shown a more sympathic side to Yuri but he is still basically a member of the gestapo/stasi who tortures and arrest political opposants to the government. And if the father had gotten the help Yuri promised at the end, then the journalist guy would'nt have had to sacrifice his integretity.
