Stop subtly spoiling...

"It's about the Journey" is a core tenant of One Piece, not cliche at all :)

Mythrial

I mean, I say I give a broad idea but I think the anime has given some pretty strong generalizations ever since Garp visited. This scene is just another one of them tbh.

So, you guys actually got pretty close to what actually happened and caused Moria to lose control of the shadows. A lot of reactors don't understand and just call it a plot hole, but you have to remember Lola's crew's explanation of what happens when you stuff shadows into a living host. There's only a limited amount of time that the shadows can share a host that depends on the user's willpower. So, by absorbing his zombies' shadows, Moria bypassed the need for him to officially "release" the shadows. While Moria gets a buff being the actual fruit user, he still went beyond his limits using all 1,000 shadows. So Luffy giving him the Giant Jet Shell Heimlich maneuver broke Moria's hold on the shadows and allowed them to escape. Also, just to clarify, Moria is saying the true nightmare waits in the New World because his own crew wasn't strong enough to survive there. He mentions bits and pieces of it throughout this arc if you go back and look, but Moria used to have a living crew just like Luffy, but they were wiped out and killed by a pirate in the New World named Kaido. Moria's response to the trauma of losing his nakama was to replace them with undead and disposable zombie soldiers. He's honestly a pretty interesting take as a character centered around depression.

They do not need a broader idea given by you. They will see for themselves as the author intended, when they get to the New World, don't you think?

Wojciechu

Moria is speaking facts, to give you guys a broad idea of the power scaling in the New World, currently the Strawhats' strength isn't sufficient to challenge it.

Winzy

I can’t see them being too much into DBZ πŸ˜… I love DBZ, but as far as plot and world building goes, it doesn’t really have much depth.

These episodes really show what I like about Moriah. He's a man that has lost everything and everyone he cared about. To me Moriah is trying to rebuild his life by chasing his ambition, but he is too broken to claw his way back to his former heights himself. Moriah has others make him the pirate king, unable to move past all he's lost. He avoids the loss of his nakama by reducing them purely to subordinates so the pain doesn't affect him. I think the choice of words when Moriah refers to his crew is very intentional, as an attempt to distance himself from his memories of his nakama. I think Moriah only called his crew nakama only once when he was under distress in the final battle. Based on what we've learned about Moriah I think his and Brooks story mirror each other's its their response to their loss that define their characters. While Brook had Laboon to fight for, Moriah as far as we know had no one else. I find Moriah so interesting because despite him falling into despair, Moriah did not give up. Sure, Moriah could barely give a bother but while broken and drowning in sorrow Moriah did anything.

It has to be a triple drop next!

can you girls react to dragon ball z abridged

Sakazuki

If we've learned anything from One Piece so far, it's that there's always a bigger nightmare than you lurking around the corner.

Was that intentional with the "Icy what they are doing"? 🀣

Xeth

Onion to frog quite the transformation lol

I always thought "Shadow's Asgard" was such an interesting choice to name Moria's final move. Asgard is the place where the Norse gods dwell, so it feels like Moria is so proud yet so desperate that he needs to transform into a pantheon of shadows just to subdue one "insolent" pirate who he initially looked down upon.

TamashiiTheGemini
