Respectfully, I disagree. I choose sub almost every time, I can't stand the dub versions. Brotherhood is the exexception. The dub is far superior in my opinion.

I think it's more about the setting of expectations in this case. Doing this is in a way having them not them experience the show outside these expectations: when you read these words you now have it in your head that, for example: "oh, the women are supposed to be written well" - which I think is the kind of pressure they want to avoid if my interpretation isn't way off. I think they want to discover these parts and form these opinions on their own, which seems to be why they ask of us to only talk about what they know from where they are in the story.

Hard disagree. Dragon ball Z was immensely better in dub than the original. Deathnote is something I prefer in english as well. And Trigun/cowboy bebop are way better in english. I even think Bleach is better in English. You can't say "there is no good enough dub of any anime" because that's not true for every person. Preferences aren't absolutes. There is no way you can say "everyone prefers apples over oranges" ever because many people prefer different things. Shutting someone down because of your own opinions is rude and also false, even if you don't mean it, it's still incredibly false, for sure.

i thinks its also that, voice acting is extremely hard almost impossible to get right. its easier to suspend disbelief and harder to notice the goofiness when its a completely different language. you fill in the blank with your own interpretation and feeling. plus the dialogue is written with a japanese audience and culture in mind. most dub do line for line, which makes it doubly weird. a good english dub is one that change the whole fell to the character to fit a western audience

I mostly agree. It's only this dub (along with the 03 series) and death notes dub I enjoy. There might be some other ones like soul eater. I think a lot of dub enjoyers of this show (at least in america) grew up around the same time I did to watch it on TV 😂 so there is definitely a lot of bias

Most anime fans just prefer to watch all anime in the original language. Enjoys the original content. In a personal view, there is no good enough dub version of any anime 🥲. The emotions that transmit the original voice actors and actresses it doesn't compare with the dub, even if the FMAB dub is one of the decent ones.

It could be way to early for me to tell. Personally I've never watched the sub in full, but I feel like for native English speakers, this series feels so much more digestible in dub. I know I'm biased and I'd hate to overturn what a lot of people have voted for. I just really can't understand the preference. Maybe someone can enlighten me but if it spoils anything, don't worry about it. Enjoying the reaction anyways!

arakawa hiromu is the mangaka/author for this series and she's seriously amazing! the character and story arcs are all wrapped up nicely and things can come full circle. literally watching the characters grow and how their relationships develop is amazing...another thing to note is that the women in this series are written *very* well, especially compared to some/most other popular shonen manga/anime. just a fantastic series through and through, i'm excited to watch your reactions :)

I'll put the suggestion forth again, since I'm a bit earlier this time: FMA has in the manga, similarly to the One Piece SBS and 1st page chapter short-stories, a couple of pages at the end of each manga volume featuring humorous content. There are no spoilers in them. Usually it's a couple of pages where she makes so called 4-koma (basically 4-picture comic strips) but also joke pictures. Honestly they're funny as heck and I'd love to see you react to them. I'm sure others would too. If you need help I'm available to help make it happen. It's never too late to start, so I hope you don't worry about that. Also, it's totally ok with me if you don't want to do it; It's rather something I suggest because I think you'd appreciate the humour.
