The Laboon reveal was one of the first moments for me in one piece that was like “oh, EVERY character matters.” Now everyone takes it for granted, but at the time, it was really shocking to have such a seemingly minor character from the beginning of the story come back in such an emotional way. I think most fans had legitimately forgotten about Laboon and the crew that left him behind by the time we got to Thriller Bark.

I've re-read this manga sooo many times and watched quite a lot of reactions but I never realized the idea of what makes Laboon looks similar to Brook's afro is the shadow that rippled on the water 😭 I just legit thought "oh both are kinda round" lmao I'm glad I rewatched it with you girls, subscribing to your Patreon is one of the best decision I've made this year

This is the kind of stuff I love about One Piece. It doesn't matter if Oda planned or not, but the fact that he connected Brook to something that was set up almost 300 episodes ago (and almost 400 chapters of the manga at that point) is insane. It makes total sense withing the story and rewards the viewer for spending that amount of time. Goda for a reason
