I can't wait for the cover story about Baroque Works & Spiders Cafe!!

PCD151

Hatchan is one of those villains that is actually nice he is just attracted to bad people. Also I would love a takoyaki food truck!

Big Dog Jake

I'd for sure not consider this spoilers if you were reading the manga, but the anime decided to reveal [๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด] later in the show. Following that same logic: if someone was watching the anime and decided to try a few episodes of the live action, I'd consider the introduction of Garp as spoilers. ...just because Garp was introduced earlier in the live action doesn't mean it's not spoilers in the anime ...just because [๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด] were introduced earlier in the manga, doesn't mean it's not spoilers in the anime. This point kind of revolves around what you personally consider spoilers tho, but I personally view premature character introductions as spoilers. I could however see an argument for the manga having more of an authority since it's the source material. ...but this was introduced in chapter 182, and at that time Oda had the intention of ending the series after Alabasta. This was never meant to be part of the main story, it was made as more of a filler/backstory but later got turned into main story, hence the grey area for a lot of people. Someone mentioned the Jango + Fullbody cover story as a counter point ...and I 100% agree on it not being spoilers ...because it's not spoiling anything, it just helps explain something the anime failed to do. That's not the case here, the anime introduces the characters their own way and it would have made a lot more sense to watch the cover story later as more of a bonus backstory. I don't blame them for watching it tho. It was shown a lot earlier in the manga, and how could they know what's yet to be revealed in the anime. Point is, a lot of people consider it spoilers for a reason, but in the end it's pretty minor spoilers ...it's nothing compared to the dozens of comments about loving Bon Clay when he was just introduced as a villain, lol. __ @Tom Horne: No need to be rude, man.

Kyle T

these are not spoilers, on the contrary, it is exactly the order of the story as oda wrote and drew it

Markbard

i had no idea this cover story existed/was released so long before it becomes relevant again. these are a nice change of pace and I advocate for more cover stories!

Ruzoku

Just because it wasn't adapted does not mean its a spoiler. That's like someone reading a book of a film vs someone watching the film, and then the movie person (who's not going to read the book) complaining about the differences between the book and the film. Its not that deep. If it was available information at that time, from official sources, then it can NEVER be seen as a spoiler

Tom Horne

It's really not, please don't be ignorant and stupid. The cover stories are canon and they are released with the manga chapters, its like telling them to not watch the anime because it spoils the anime. This cover story was made before Skypiea

No

I love that you're doing the cover stories. They're so wholesome. Also: Dictating reactors to avoid Cover Stories because they should do "anime only" reactions is a wild take. Clearly, our gals here are One Piece fans, not One Piece Anime-only fans. Let them enjoy the franchise however they want. All the cover stories they reviewed so far were public knowledge at this point in the story. Leaving them out of the anime wasn't Oda's decision... it was Toei's. Let's just enjoy their journey, okay?

TamashiiTheGemini

Thank you.

Monkey bing bong

yeah your fine they was in the manga

King Tut

These cover stories are just one of the many examples of how Oda masterfully does world-building. And I'm sure many of us agree that these cover stories would be great in between arcs. From what I understand, and I could be wrong, the cover arcs they did animate did not do too well viewership-wise. And that Toei had received letters saying fans wanted the straw hats, which was their indication not to animate these side stories any longer. It sucks, and I think some of these side stories are important too. But I'm glad you two can get to see them, as I don't think a lot of anime-only viewers have seen them.

Shaun Hudson

yes, they are not spoilers, I wish the anime had continued to animate these are they are fun and expand the verse more, I like that you are doing both sbs and cover stories, not seen anyone else do this, and they're kinda all needed to get as complete a picture of the verse as possible.

B

im really glad u decided to read the cover stories! theyre very fun, expand the world and give fun background info to side characters. plus more opportunities to appreciate the mangas beautiful art

casually sinnin โ€˜

You should Watch the wapol cover story next

Enrique Castro

They're not spoilers at all lol. Don't worry about the peanut gallery's noise!

Ocean Flan

Agreed! It enhances the experience IMO. And even then, everyone enjoys media in their own way. If anything, we're getting even more content from you two. Appreciate the reactions as always.

BeefNoodleSoup

Thank you so much!

Haylo

Having this channel taught us very quickly that we cannot and will not please everyone. We decided together that we wanted to check these out since they are canon and are part of the story/world building. Nothing will convince us that these are spoilers, so please respect the decision we made! ๐Ÿซก

Haylo

This cover story finished before the Skypiea arc even started. In no world is it a "spoiler" for them to see canonical stuff that the anime couldn't be bothered to animate. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Some weird comments today! If H&K had seen the Jango + Fullbody cover story sooner, then they wouldn't have been confused when those characters suddenly reappeared in the anime as friends, with Jango inexplicably being a marine, and both of them really into dancing for some reason -- since the anime didn't bother to animate that story either. I guess that was a "spoiler" too! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Dark_Eternal

They're not reading the manga tho, they're watching the anime, and this hasn't been revealed yet.

Kyle T

This is spoiler btw. (explanation below)

StarBoi

@Abu Ali Bro what do you listen to yourself

Wsgyan

I dislike Toei for many things but the cover stories aren't their fault. The reason they didn't animate the cover stories is due to Fuji TV. They pretty much refuse to accept episodes that don't have Luffy in them due to some very old ratings data. Flashbacks being the only exception. Even in the cover stories they did, it has Luffy in them leading into the cover story each episode

Saban

They wouldn't be anime fillers since they are canon to the story. The reason they don't is due to Fuji TV execs. They pretty much refuse to accept episodes that don't include Luffy

Saban

Delete pls for no hints. Your statement implies you know... already from somewhere else

Patayo99

Ricky

Hatchan!!

Ben W

Love it ๐Ÿฅฐ

Owl

Why not both?

Merfhew

Was this meant to be a response to someone's comment? ๐Ÿ˜…

Dark_Eternal

@Abu "this is anime reaction not manga" Since they've agreed to watch cover stories in the first place AND they saw the OPLA as their very first OP medium it doesn't exactly make them anime only reactors, right?

Wojciechu

Wow! This adds so much to your OP experience, I'm glad you're doing it :D

Wojciechu

Ok

D Q

What on earth are you on about Abu!? It completely justifies it, in the original material, deemed the most authentic and canon experience to the story, it places this story in an arc that we've long since passed. It doesn't change anything in regards to the reveal that Kokoro is a mermaid because you wouldn't have known until the reveal anyway and so what if you'd had the reveal of mermaids earlier and not later? It changes absolutely nothing and spoils absolutely nothing other than the fact that mermaids exist, which since fishmen were a thing isn't a stretch to make.

Baker

It's literally the intended way the original author presented the story, the people making the anime adaptation that chose to leave things out. Those are parts of the story and as seen with the Coby and Buggy ones sometimes they impact the main series in significant ways that without the context they provide things can get a bit confusing. They should be in the anime, and as most of them aren't, checking them in the manga is the only way.

predos

Recently join and i love that you guys do sbs and cover pages. Not many people watch them or read them. Youโ€™ll be more knowledgeable than a lot of other watchers.

Sonicluis

whats your problem with mermaids? they met one already before they saw the cover story and know about Fishisland and mermaids. calm down

Patayo99

this is anime reaction not manga , not everyone watching the anime would have seen the manga or the "cover stories" , saying its been release dont justify it at all, some information does put an end to things before it happens, like wondering about mermaids existence, if they even skip episode title why this any difference... too much info!

Abu Ali

This is the first time i've seen this cover story. It definitely adds context to his character and backstory

Gabriel

This came out in the manga during the tail end of Alabasta and went through til the middle of Jaya on the front page of every manga chapter, in fact these probs would've been adapted had Buggy and Koby's cover story adaptations been received better. These are not spoilers in the slightest.

Baker

Abu, it is literally the first page, cover source material

SS

Stop doing this. People obviously have no self control. Or think they clever.

Rockstar

seeing a mermaid for the first time in the anime (monster granny) vs seeing it in a cover story way before monster granny, thats kinda spoiler ish and does effect a first time anime reaction IMO.

Abu Ali

thats not a spoiler, cause it would be not shown in the anime.

Patayo99

They can watch cover stories up to cover story no. 8 this is no. 4 including the 2 that were turned into episodes, the Buggy adventures and Koby training.

Beranzan

But aren't these content spoilers for you?

Jรผrgen Prochnow

Camie! Hatchi! Papagua!

D Q

yeah especially on later filler arcs it makes no sense. But maybe they fought the viewers wouldn't like anime episodes where the crew was not part of it.

Proto Mundi

Yeah, it would have been so much better if they had animated the cover stories instead of creating fillers

BashaM

So glad you are checking out the covers. They really add a rich depth to the world

Alexander Tonkins

It is weird that they donโ€™t just animate the cover stories as anime filler. Thereโ€™s solid cover stories that anime only experiencers will never know about

MeteorJuice

The panda shark that Hachi saved is the one that brought Yosaku(Zoro's bounty hunting buddy) to Baratie after the Don Krieg attack. I had completely forgotten that he was in this cover story!

่ˆž้ˆด

I had no idea this cover story existed. Now I freakin' want takoyaki!

jacksantore

Please delete your comment. Your comment is the confirmation to the spoiler, whats about to come. It will create expectation. Delete yours and I will delete mine.

Muhammad Sulaiman Sunar

I've never even seen these lol so that was great to experience. Suuuuper glad you guys are checking these out occasionally!

SomeoneElse

So that's what negative IQ looks like ๐Ÿค”

SomeoneElse

That made me laugh so much as well hahaha

Julia Greciano

Winner of dumbest comment of the century.

Monkey bing bong

This spoil to much๐Ÿคฃ

So0bett98

It really is a shame that so little cover stories got animated (like buggy's or coby's). They're pretty uninqe in the way they show what happened to certain characters, even villains, afterwards.

Peter Butchens

Just for clarification, because the AI had terrible name pronunciation, the mermaid's name was Camie (pronounced Kay-mee) and the Starfish's name was Pappagu (pronounced Pah-puh-goo) or Pappag if you're pedantic...

DarnedStingray8

Omg that was so good!!! Ive never seen these so that was so much fun!!! What a heartwarming story

Nadeem L

"I wonder why they don't use this when they need fillers" IKR?! They started good with animating cobymeppo and buggy's cover story, but why they stopped when the cover stories are more canon (and adds world building like, wonderfully) than original fillers :') anyway, great reaction as always! really love seeing you girls enjoy the cover stories as much as we do!

Zee

Wow, i haven't seen this cover story before, it was amazing ๐Ÿฅฐ

I love Hayley

๐Ÿ’œ

PB CX

"You're too good for her! And you're a cannibal!" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Ilsuk Yang

Best boy Hachi! It's an absolute shame that Toei refused to adapt any of the cover stories after the early Buggy one got a poor reaction. They add a ton of fun detail to side characters and would make for perfect canon filler material when the anime starts running up against the manga. Be sure to check out "Miss Goldenweek's 'Operation: Meet Baroque Works'", too!

Erik Larsen

Yay cover stories!!! I have been advocating for these for months. So glad to see it happen as they are canon and further expand this amazing world. Thank you both ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š
