It's an amazing show and I think you girls would absolutely love it. And as it comes, season 2 of Apothecary diaries is coming out tomorrow, so the timing coudn't be more perfect.

I love Kanne and Lavine, Frieren's teammates, Wirbel is really cool and I really want to eat Denken's doughnuts lol. Uwel, the psycho-killer green haired girl, is scary. A lot of people really like her, though I want her to die lol. It just shows how well-written even characters we've only seen in a couple episodes so far are. People have strong attachments to or hatreds of them. Some of them I'd love to watch in a spin-off series. They're really leading character worthy, a few of them.

Like "Your Name" or some of the Ghibli ones in case you haven't watched those yet. Might be nice before starting a long running series again

So I would say it still demonstrates skill to a certain degree, but its just not the be-all-end-all measurement of a mage’s skill
