One Piece literally is the perfect show for you. And this is just one of the example of how GREAT the OP Live Action is. The LA brought many people like you who otherwise wouldn't even try the anime because intimidated by the number of episodes. Now you're just like us, want answer to the mysteries of the OP world but at the same time doesn't want this series to end!

2025-01-06 20:16:12 +0000 UTCAlso, I think one of Oda's strong points as a writer is his ability to mesh both cartoonishly evil antagonistic forces with actual humanity. Throughout Enies Lobby, the WG and the marines are portrayed constantly as corrupt, vile, underhanded, and cruel even to their own. And yet, individually, many of both the new and old blood of the marines aren't that same level of evil. Aokiji, one of the highest ranked marines, and Coby, who's new to the organization, are very clearly not like that. Aokiji is a complex guy who wants to do what's right, even though he's not above killing someone he considered a friend if it's what must be done. And while One Piece does have some villains who are just goofy levels of evil, many of the antagonistic forces in this show have humanity, even while serving something like the World Government. One Piece is unrealistic in many aspects, but the part of fiction that needs to be realistic to resonate with the audience, which One Piece nails, is character motivation. You can have characters recover from lethal injuries and jump 30 feet in the air, but if what a character thinks and how they act doesn't make sense, no one is going to care. Oda took a world-ruling evil government and made sure that its members were real people, and that makes the marines way more interesting than they could have been.

2025-01-06 19:20:08 +0000 UTC**important** the next 3 episodes are filler. Then 6 canon episodes to finish the arc, then 326-336 are all filler. 336 features chopper if you're interested. From 337 on is the new arc with no triple episodes until nearly the end. So ideally either start the arc with the first 3 episodes or do the 336 filler +1 episode to line yourself up for the triple episode at the end of the arc. That's my recommendation! feel free to comment your opinions everyone.

Oda is the king of weaving a long story with connected elements through 100s of episodes! That's why I'm optimistic about the ending. he has had the ending planned since starting writing the story, so there will be many details and plot threads that play out now we are in the final saga. I feel the same about so many people missing out on such a great story, it really is a pity and that's why I will always appreciate how well they did with the live action. It brought in a lot of new fans that wouldn't have given it a go before. Thank you both for your reactions, they help brighten up my day and you are welcome; we love watching with you just as much as you do with us <3

2025-01-06 18:37:45 +0000 UTCHere's the thing, you got a taste of the marines being absolute fucking animals, and this was a reminder to something said in the live action, Luffy saying that there's good marines and bad marines too. Don't desensitize yourself to something just because that's the majority of what you see. They aren't all bad, we just had 2-3 episodes of nothing but real chill marines and not one of them are anything to shake a stick at. We have one of the three admirals, a vice admiral, and Coby isn't "low" on the food chain, either. There isn't a 'good vs bad' in this show and if thats what you see it as, youre just missing context. It really shows you both sides of that same coin many different times. They are all marines, so if they're bad then what about Garp/Aokiji? And if they're good then what about spandex? This show is too deep to just assign one group as good or bad, not even one person assigned as good or bad. I can confidently tell you that you will not have good feelings towards spandex ever for sure.

At this point in time, it's no longer a normal shonen anime. The world, the characters and the powerlevels become really, really complex. I love that I get to reexperience this story with you two <3!

In like a hundred eps or so you'll be so immersed in the One Piece political situation, you'll basically be talking about it like people do real world politics lol. Honestly, some of the best world building in a story Ive ever seen - I really, really enjoy the lore stuff, for One Piece and some other incredible Intellectual Properties out there

I even had my own opinion on arcs that I struggled with (e.g., Skypeia) completely flipped just watching through this channel, and seeing them find enjoyment in everything.

I remembered something during my rewatch—when Luffy fought Crocodile for the final time, the background music during that epic last punch was Antonín Dvořák's "From the New World" Symphony. While it might not be intentional foreshadowing, it still gives me chills every time I revisit that fight. That moment resonates even more now, knowing that the second half of the Grand Line shares the same name as the symphony.

I mean, the fact we learn about Shanks true power scale when this is a character we see in the very first episodes of the show is an insane twist imo and one of the reason OP is so great and entertaining all along.

I mean, he was so friendly and down to earth with Luffy and the people of Windmill village that I was not expecting him to be so powerful. The power level scaling is off the charts with Shanks and Whitebeard.
