Luffy throwing that barriage at Lucci is always soooo satisfaying considering the type of villain Lucci is. Btw the name of Zoro's swords in order from weakest to strongest are: Sandai Kitetsu (the cursed one), Yubashiri (the one he lost here) and Wado Ichimonji (Kuina's sword).

It is everything that is good about One Piece plus everything that elevates One Piece above every other anime IMO. It seems like he was planning to tire Luffy out in a fight of attrition, but in the end seeing how Luffy wasn't staying down he decided to terminate life return in order to do a full power attack to finish Luffy off but this of course left him without any strength left and had to take Luffy's gatling straight on.

My man is an inch from collapsing and still pulls out one last massive attack to finish Lucci because he knows that's what he's gotta do to keep his friends safe

Oda did a good job showing that human-level feats, can be just as impressive/impactful as superhuman feats. Side note: It's crazy how a well placed piece of music can be so touching. Hearing Luffy scream with the score in the back always gives me chills.

In JoJo's that's enough to create hundreds of razor blades, needles and a couple scissors, in One Piece it's enough to rust your body. Though my assumption is it's more based on how you "get rusty" with age and not literally rusting.

2024-12-30 19:27:22 +0000 UTCLucci uses life return to adjust his hybrid leopard form, he has a more slim one which he was fighting in first (probably to keep up with gear 2 and that he’s scared of gear 3) but cancels it to his more bulky form that he first used in water 7 (probably cause luffy just got up from six king gun and he was desperate to finish him)

Luffy, covered in blood, almost unconcious, holds himself up through sheer willpower thinking about the promise he made to his friends to rescue Robin and never falling down again. Finally, at the brink of his defeat, unleashes his final attack with all his might before falling down. Nothing looks more epic than Luffy screaming his lungs out throwing a barrage of insanely fast punches that you can't even see

The tension, the emotional weight, Lucci being an incredible and terrifying villain, the cathartic close to the battle, it all just hits perfectly after everything we've gone through to get here. It also gave us one of the best Usopp moments in the story. Water 7/Enies Lobby is in my top 3 arcs of the series and this is one of the main reasons as to why.

He gets powered up when Usop is telling him, let's go back together. Luffy always treasure his crew. Unconditionally. And Usop telling Luffy that he will fight Lucci, knowing that Luffy will never let that happen. Just to boost Luffy's morale.

2024-12-30 14:31:26 +0000 UTCFun fact. By the time this episodes released years ago. Gatling was fans most favourite attack. Since Luffy beat Crocodile, it became everyone fav move. So Oda decided to finish off Lucci by using the advance version of that move, Jet Gatling. Rather than Gear 3.
