I cry when Usopp talks to nami in that scene. Its so real and he feels like a kid and you realise how young they are. Poor Usopp! I was, however, giggling at the subtitle "HORROR" hahahaha could well have been a dire misunderstanding. Bon clays voice actor also voices that charcater.

And since you brought it up: Caravels were ships that specialized in exploration, were smaller than typical cargo ships and known for their speed which aids in exploration in the 1400s all the way through the 1500s roughly. However, they fell out of use during the Golden Age of Piracy (1600s and 1700s roughly) in favor of a wider variety of ships that were more appropriately equipped to handle crossing the seas, and with decent amounts of size and speed. So yes, they were considered outdated (in real life) by the time piracy was at its peak and thus weren't ever actually used by pirates. And in my opinion, Oda-sensei picked the perfect ship to encapsulate and represent the ideals of the Straw Hat Pirates on their journey into the unknown.

The reason "that guy's" voice sounds familiar is because (like almost all the voice actors on this show) it's recycled throughout the show for different characters, in this case having already voiced both Jango the hypnotist and Mr. 2/Bon Clay.
