A common misconception people make is that Maki doesn’t have cursed energy. She has a very minuscule amount, but not enough to see curses or use techniques. Toji is the only person that has zero cursed energy, and so his heavenly pact is more extreme than Maki’s, making him significantly stronger than her.

Also, that last scene was such a "f*ck you" right in our faces, because for a second we got to feel good about something again just for Amanai to get shot in the head a second later. This episode is BRUTAL.
