Even in "life and death" situations we are gifted with some of the biggest laughs. It's not something that would work in every arc and with any villain anyway, but here it's just so perfect.

Because it's immediately followed by the ship malfunctioning, as opposed to "you'll pay for this" which is sort of indefinite when it might happen. There's also a pun here when Luffy is translated to say "I can't keep holding up this golden ball" - he actually said golden egg(s) - basically the same thing as a westerner saying "family jewels" - a euphamism for you know what.
