Most loved is a stretch. Its the most skipped arc. And Oda has said there is only one thing in skypei that is important to the overall story. Now he never said what that "thing" is but most people will figure it out at the end of the arc. What your talking about is world building. World building isnt important to a story. Yes it adds but isnt important to the overall story. I listed a article that points all this out.

u are absolutely wrong. not every arc has to have significant things for the future to be ''important''. this is one of the most loved arcs and has forshadowing, interesting story threads with noland and all and so much more

I really dont get why some are skipping this ? I didnt know about this for a while, and I learned that people were skipping this arc… like… for what reason ? So much fun with the crew, Eneru is interesting AND there is a lot of things important… so why people wants to skip it ?

I can't believe some people skip this arc. This arc alone probably has the most foreshadows compared to other arcs. Watching this reaction videos make me realize just how good of a story writer Oda is and the crew banters in this arc is one of my favorites.

ahh alright, my bad, i'll delete it. and I dont think it is weak since if the characters themselves and author is mentioning it, it should mean that they are intentionally conveying this message for a reason. If it was weak I dont think the show would mention it to put you in that line of thinking for no reason

I would let them eliminate possibilities themselves and not guide them down a certain line of thinking. Also, the "they didn't know what the Merry looked like" line of thinking is a bit weak because it's fairly obvious from a design context which modifications were done after the fact and which weren't.

I'm not a reactor, and it's been almost 20 years for me, but I distinctly remember the first time I saw the map of Skypiea way back in 144(?) that it looked like a skull. I didn't put together the mouth part though so the reveal still hit me, but I can see how some might look at Skypeia map and say "that's a skull" I think Oda and the anime were really clever about Jaya because they always showed it rotated 90 degrees so it never looked like "teeth" but almost like two little dragons or something. That's how my mind always registered it so it didn't occur to me to look at it from the side.

The source is the vast amount of blatant face reference Oda uses with many of his characters. Did you find confirmation that Jango was at all based off Michael Jackson? Do you have Oda's specific response on Richie's name? Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine? A certain member of a certain party that escaped from a certain place that has a big head? The one I'm not too specific on is one of the most blatant references in the whole series and I haven't seen him confirm it. The only ones he really steps forward and admits to are the ones ment to be one for one representations of actors from old Japenese media. He's not even allowed to say who the 5 world goverment guys are, only one stayed revealed and he was the most difficult to claim ignorance. I bring this up because I thought Eminem was one of the one's confirmed. It's not just his appearance, theres a very blatant attribute of his character that he mimics. These old interviews are a lot harder to find now with how crappy search algorithms are becoming. Me and my friends are pretty much mandela effecting one from the Attack on Titan creator about reference from One Piece we read while the anime was still new, but can't find it anywhere now. Though watching reactors see the One Piece thing it's referencing now people make the connection on their own.

Fun fact: If you pay atention, the song played during the campfire celebration in 166 is actually sang by the seiyuus (japanese voice actors) of the crew. The full version's on youtube, I do not recommend looking it up tho because you may find spoilers about future characters.

While this arc is definitely one of my least favorites (although I still like it), I really love how many secrets and hints and seeds it's planting, some of which get answered pretty soon, while others take a whole while. But that's what's so cool about thinking back later about earlier episodes
